Buying Selling on Kijiji woes

Good thing we pay so many of them >$100k a year. Highly trained professionals.

Just to be clear ,my post wasn't a shot at the cops involved ,I was just relaying what I red in the article

I've adertised a few things on Kijiji and had people offer me silly offers, while others will happily pay my fair asking prices. I always price fairly to make a quick sale. The silly people, if I feel bothered to reply, I ask them if *they* would sell for that price??
Depending on the item, I often then just throw the item on ebay, and just deal with the low sales price I will get.
Larger items, I just keep relisting.. but only so much unwanted Items can be stored :-\

Guy i bought my bike off of said he had offers of $1000 + an xbox and a bunch of games, a guitar, and a ton of other random ****.
He was ecstatic when after I arranged to meet, I actually met him on time, looked over the bike as a knowledgeable buyer, made an offer SLIGHTLY below his reasonable asking price (which he accepted), I left a deposit and met him back the next day with the full balance.

Advertised on kijiji this week a fair price for some brand new gear priced at about 30% below retail. Some guy offers me less than half my asking. I ask if he would sell for that low? He offers me 50% of my asking price. Replies from his work email. Some financial guy downtown. Guaranteed this clown earns big money. Chumps seem to come in all forms..

I like to respond back to lowballers with a higher than asking price

The only people worse than the lowballers and time wasters, are the flat out liers.

Looking at some cars recently, all 'no accidents, clean cars' blah blah.
Go to see them and I see a new bumper and hood out of alignment
"What happened here?"
"oh, I rear ended someone at a stop sign"
"but I thought you said no accidents?"
"yeah, never had to report it, they paid me in cash. Car's never been in an accident"

...Really?

$50 retail

ha.. I see they may have been on closeout, and dropped in price.. No longer in stock...

I had paid a much higher price plus sales taxes :-(

It happens...just saying. people do their research. I'm assuming the guy offered $25.

You guys must hate me. I always ask for a better price. Kijiji, stores, church bazaars. You never know what a seller's motives are. And they can always not negotiate. But I try not to insult. Not a good way to bargain if you piss off the seller.

Exactly, everything is negotiable. If I'm looking at a $4000 bike, I might offer $3500 and go from there. I'm not likely to offer $2000, that's insulting.

Yes. I price match.
Yes. Look for discounted / damaged / end of line products.
Yes. Either go to Costco (cheaper) or bonus rewards.
Also negotiated and additional 20% off at Aeropostale for being a funny fat guy.

Not if the bike is worth $2000. Some bikes you show up and your realize it needs this, that is leaking, oh didn't see that in the photo, and they stated MINT.

Lots of ads for bikes asking what they paid for it a year ago at peak price, which is >$2000 more than what you can find new on dealer floors.
Bikes take a 20-30% haircut on value first year, and many buyers use the web to quickly determine high, low and average asking prices, and know selling prices are 10% off that.

Yeah, never had the "mint bike turns out to be turd" thing. Most bikes I've gone to look at have been as advertised and fairly priced, or I don't go. Might still get a surprise one day. Lol
