buying/ordering gear in Toronto - not doing it anymore

Agreed, but why are you whispering???

Whispering? You mean small font? Weird, I got an internal server error and it wouldn't post..so I c/p and when I pasted, it was very small font..so I went in and made the font what is showing here as the normal size, but sounds like it is displaying on all other PC's as small font.

In your quote of me, it is displaying normal size, so not sure what's up..the site has been pretty weird for a while now. It's bit me on the *** more than once losing my post so I try to remember to c/p 'em all until I see it posted.

Since caps are considered shouting I thought I'd go the opposite...

Looks ok now. Guess some issues with the Forum are still with us.

WOW...You have no clue what you're talking about. Our Gov't implies many import tariffs and duties to certain products like helmets and textiles that are not applicable to US Distributors which immediately raises the costs of goods coming into Canada. No one is gouging anyone, that's for sure, especially on third party products that distributors have to purchase from vendors all over the world.

We still pay those same tariffs when we import those goods ourselves, or at least if you import correctly. The price difference is still not even in the same ballpark.

Gotta find deals like here http://www.shiftracing.ca/ or order via the net. Don't mind waiting on a good deal. Not only is Canadian stuff overpriced the availability and selection is a joke. Thank partscanada and motovan
I ended up ordering from Sturgess Cycle, insane prices, super fast service! Got me an Alpinestars Force Air-Flo jacket :) WOOT!

i want to get a bell 500 helmet
its $99 online in the usa that includes shipping.

gp bikes is selling it for $139 plus hst. so the helmet is going to be $50 more

had anyone approached a dealer and asked for a price match?

No dealer is going to match a U.S. based online store's price. I can promise you that right now. For Bell helmets check out Competition Cycle, I got a Vortex there for less than anywhere else (including the US).

Good chance you'll still pay tax on that helmet.

Yap, 80% of my gear was ordered online from the States, the only piece of gear I got here was my helmet...cause had to make sure it fit properly.

So you're sending your money earned in Canada through a family or corporation that relies on Canadians to survive and you're sending it to the USA to save MAYBE $50?! Jobs are disappearing, benefits and employee incentives are being cut and we continue to give our money to the Americans. When your family and friends are out of job, don't complain, because you've done it to yourself.

And that is why the economy is going down the toilet. we have turned from a manufacturing economy to a service economy.
