Buying a vehicle (non motorcycle) as is from private vs dealer

Let me know how you like it.

I’ve driven them a handful of times and it’s nothing special, but I do like the drive and the 250hp Ecoboost motor has some good pickup.

I found the hybrid 2.5L to be very buzzy and anemic, but it’s made for efficiency now power.

The 4K tow and Luxury Package was my goal, and very few people ordered the 4K tow.

I’ll be looking to change a few things (ie: the need to connect to get Apple play), and with time some better speakers as they’re junk…but I’m no audiophile so it’s not a priority.

The ELEVATE rack I saw was a steal for 1k and was supposed to meet the guy today, but some dude grabbed it last night as I signed the docs for the Mav.

For me…I spent 3hrs at the dealer and ended up 3k lower than I thought they’d go. But I was patient, respectful, and 95% honest on my budget.

Dealers are willing to negotiate, they just need to know you’re serious.

I think dealers are maybe getting a bit panicky right now as well and looking to move product off the lots that may not get immediately restocked. If we get hammered long term with this tarrif BS and our economy takes a hit, cars won't be selling much. Heck, people are already clamping down on their wallets from the fear factor alone, and the same thing is happening south of the border is starting to show in their economic numbers.

This whole uncertainty thing is really damaging all around on both sides. When uncertainty of what the future may bring sets in, people don't spend money they don't *need* to spend.

Thanks! Buyers remorse kicked in this morning!

I hate that. I'll admit that having this trade war start only a week or so after we bought the Ioniq5 ended up bringing on some stress, taking on a bunch of debt at a time in which suddenly I had to worry about my job, thinking initially that this was all bluster and wouldn't actually happen. The only saving grace for us at least is that we can survive on a single income if need be, and if the absolute worst possible case scenario happened we could sell the car and break even at the absolute worst given how much we saved buying it in QC.

But your wife only approved the purchase of a vehicle. No other accessories. :ROFLMAO:

The accessory purchases go on that "other" credit card. ;)

thanks!

Now the customization process starts! Looking for a rack that I can mount the YAKIMA rack on.

Had a rack lined up but the thing sold last night. 3k combo for 1k of folding cover and elevate rack.

The search starts so def looking for recommendations.
Truck yeah! Congrats!

I have the Bak Revolver X4S and its excellent. It fits flush and looks great and rolls up out of the way quickly and easily. It has rails along the sides for the racks. Good warranty as well. I just looked for it on sale online then had my local Action Truck store match the price. Easy to install (did it myself).

Take everything with a grain of salt. The thing to remember about websites like that is that only the people who have issues rush to complain about their cars while all the other owners never rush to a website to say "Yep, it's running great, haven't had any issues in years!".

For example, on the Ioniq5 there's an issue with the DC2DC transformers (they call it the ICCU) that caused some of them to fail, and if you google "ioniq5 problems" you'll quicky find a million references to it. And you could be mistaken to believe that literally ever single car has or will fail at some point. But recently the numbers started coming out and the actual failure rate is something like 0.5% of all of them on the road, so yeah, not actually a big issue. It's just that anywho who's ever had the issue runs to the internet to scream about it, and then it gets perpetuated.

Oh I know. People that complain are always louder.

However the Maverick is a BUDGET vehicle. I know full well some of the issues…

- failed CV joints
- rattles galore
- finnicky infotainment system
- cheap scratch prone interior

I’m OK with it though. Still have 13k of comprehensive warranty left. But there are a lot of people who love the truck.

I flip cars often enough that if things go bad…off to the next one.

For now I’ll enjoy it as much as I can and accessorize it slightly but I’m still ****** that ELEVATE rack disappeared from under my nose.
