Buying A New House... Need Some Advice, Please!

Have you been to Brampton lately?

They cant build them fast enough for the buyers. The city's has projected that they would be built up to their borders by 2030.

That number is now down to 2018 i believe now. The N/W quadrant is blowing up like crazy ..

Brampton is a strange place...

8 cars per house hold, 3 + families per house :lmao:

It's getting so bad out there Torontonians are looking towards Hamilton for houses. HAMILTON!!

That's coming to an end.

Not anytime soon its not.

Talk to the developers. They currently plan to build right up to Mayfield from Sandalwood in the N/W area, all the way west to Winston Churchill.

Not to mention the huge mall that is being placed right on Bovaird just west of Mississauga Road.

They could give away houses in Hamilton and I'd still rent elsewhere.

20yrs ago Hamilton was pretty great. Then Mel Lastman started busing out the dregs of Toronto to Hamilton, which started a two decade orchestrated gentrification of downtown Toronto, until even the homeless can't afford to live there anymore.

But in the last 2-3yrs Hamilton has turned around, 3000 exchange students (and their Asian parental unit funding), expanding art scene (hey mafaqu'er, Hamilton has hipsters too!), and the Hamilton music scene would always kick TO's in the balls, and laugh.
Oh and since we're talking about home ownership, Hamilton has led Ontario three years running on rising prices. Throw in great public transportation options (40mins from Hamilton to Union Station, in rush hour, you can't even do that from Georgetown, let alone Woodbridge).

There's a reason downtown Hamilton right now is the best real estate investment in the GTA.

And, again, seeing as how this forum is 99/100 neutered metrosexual GTA male:female ratio...home ownership, especially if married, makes absolutely ZERO financial sense.

Unless you want your ex to have a comfy place, paid for by you, to ball her next "friend".

There are a disproportionate amount of bums and e-bikers here in Westdale but on the upside my house was paid for by some of those 3000 exchange students. And it's more than doubled in value. Now I'm just waiting for a Chinese-Torontonian to bid it up to triple.
The city is cracking down on something right now because, for the first time, today I got a parking ticket on my expanded driveway. You always seem well informed, what's going on?

So what do you and your boyfriend live in?

I have. I do.

And from what I see, the New Hope Co-Op makes a good portion of their money selling fixies with day-glo paint jobs and deep dish rims at a tidy mark-up to them. I'm sure there's a good number of them ripping around on frames/parts I've donated.

Bumping an old thread, question for the commuters:

How is the drive from Bowmanville/Clarington heading west in the am?

1. Go to http://maps.google.ca
2. Type 'traffic' into the search box, select Traffic from the drop-down menu
3. Click 'typical traffic' as opposed to 'live traffic'
4. Select a day and time
5. Green is good, yellow is okay, red sucks, dark red makes you wanna commit suicide right then and there
6. ???
7. Profit

It depends what route you take and how far west are you going.
