Buying a Bike with only M1?

Are you allowed to finance or purchase a bike with just an M1?

But why would you. Some companies won't even insure you without an m2, and even as far as having a Course successfully completed.

Cool. Did you get to register+insured it to your name? I actually want to be able to drive it without getting a ticket.

Many companies aren't willing to insure with an m1 because it only lasts 90 days. They don't have the time to micromanage and look into each individual case. Before you invest into the sport, do yourself and everyone a favor and do the course, or at least the test.

The pros outweigh the cons by a long shot.

I should have included that im taking the M2 course @ Sheridan 1st week of august and your absolutely right. I was looking to buy the bike now while waiting to get the M2. I was hoping, I could practice the basics and get to know the bike better.

You can get insurance on an m1. Call around. Fact: td will they just want you to have a course booked and they need the certificate number once completed.

I got it registered and insured to my name.

But like other posters have said, buying the bike isn't the big problem. Its whether you can get insured and at what price. (which depends on age, license type, how long you've possessed the license, and zip code)

Also start with course, they teach you from the very basics. So while it helps to practice before the course, it isn't a deal breaker like the rest of the course is.

Statefarm insures you with m1. I had my bike and insured with them with only my m1.

been there done that, it's fine

M1, bought (@ snowcity), insured (statefarm) and rode my ninja250 before my M2

Same here. Bought a bike from a dealer with my m1, insured with State Farm. No problem.
Currently on m2.

Call State Farm before you put a deposit down. Not a problem at all.

Looking to maybe finance a Kawi 300

Awesome. Statefarm was my choice of insurance as well. Thanks

depends on how old you are and your driving record to get insurance on m1
I'm 28, m1 for 2 weeks and got a 250r insured with statefarm for ~$1000/year

I picked up my first bike after writing my M1.

Honestly: I should have waited 'til after I took the safety course. I crashed riding it on the way home. :(
Oh well. Lessons we learn.
