Buy this year, or next year?

i say wait because although the weather IS getting warmer the riding season started quite late this year. I remember last year when I got my bike on February 20th, the temperature was in the 12-15 degree range. We are in June and the season is just beginning, plus you will pack your bike in around the end of november (unless you're a daredevil and want to ride with snow on the road at 5 degrees). So basically you are looking at paying $2500 for 5 months of riding plus your lost in investment gains. Ask yourself if that's worth it, I got 7 months of riding and I paid $1600 last year and still think I overpaid.

Once the initial excitement fades I can almost guarantee you will regret come Christmas when you could've spent that money on boxing day or a nice Caribbean cruise.

Money never comes easy and $2500 is not a small amount. My advice to you is to put your concentration somewhere else cuz if you surf on gtamotorcycles everyday, you will no doubt go out and get the bike.

I shopped around using a ninja 250 as a benchmark. My other friends that were gonna ride are having the same problem where insurance is stupid high first year, regardless of the bike, then drops. Other problem is I also have school coming up on September, I'd have more breathing room if I were to buy the bike during November to April, where bikes are apparently cheaper. Siiiigh. I was just out jogging and all I saw were motorcycles T__T. This sucks.

Sounds like you aren't looking hard enough for insurance. I'm 26, never held a G class license, just got my M2 this year and I'm paying $1440 for my first year on a Ninja 250. Admittedly it's an older one, but you should really consider a used bike for your first year. I've already dropped mine twice and that makes me glad I didn't spring for a brand new one.
