Bull-**** Charges..

In the meantime, people go in prison for longer if they steal.

Theft is more of a crime than murder or rape. Beautiful society we live in. (i dont condone theft in any way)

Unreal.

How does this work.

What if I make a charitable donation to an "unnamed charity" and take remedial driving course, will they drop my stunt driving charge?

No chance. You're part of the Axis of Evil... :-p

If you're gonna raise a wheel or hit 50kph over, make sure to kill someone too and your stunting charges will be dropped. (sarcasticly uttered)

Another one of those things in life that just don't make any sense.

why is there sooooooooo much missing from that article...just something not right...there has to be some important piece of info how the driver is not facing harsher charges...some connection between the families? side deal? payout?

No idea. I think it's just our society's attitude toward the automobile. I'll tell ya, if I dropped a chainsaw on someone by accident and killed them, I'd get more than that I believe. Remedial driver training is something you get for backing into another car in a parking lot. Not running someone over.

Maybe the legals beagles can comment but all the driver intended to do was run the crossing and the fine is approprite for that. The death and injury were incidental so no biggie to the court. Morals be damned.

Its still unwanted murder.

You pass a red light and kill someone, you're still killing someone. It's not always the intention that counts ahha

bring this up to the judge. See how he feels about it. I mean after all you didnt kill anyone. DID YOU??

Yet everyone else gets their property towed for SPEEDING.

If I go 50 over, my life is put on the line. Vehicle impounded, slapped with a charge & have my license revoked for a week.

You kill someone, it doesn't matter as much.

...point taken

I don't think I've ever been so furious and disenchanted with my home province.

Like others have said, the article isn't very descriptive. For all we know the old man could have just walked into traffic without even looking. Working downtown I see this all the time. Some pedestrians like to act as though the law will put them back together after you run them over.

And the difference between killing someone by mistake and willfully going way above the speed limit or riding in an "uncontrolled" manner are huge. Not saying I agree with the large differences in charges, but laws are there to prevent **** from going down first and punishing an individual second.

Some ppl do not willfully "race". The ppl who are most likely caught are soccer moms who is racing to get their son from practice.

I've found myself over 50 a few times, not intentionally, merely passing some clown on the passing lane. Imagine if there was a radar trap ahead of me?

Playin devils advocate, if you unknowingly reached 50 over to pass someone then you were already speeding to bein with. I don't agree with the law, but I do my best to see things from all sides. Especially the viewpoint of the cop who may pull me over.
