Brrrr....little chily out this morning!

And the morning chill reminded me that once again I've procrastinated long enough to buy warmer riding gloves!
Any recommendations on cold weather riding gloves? I'm trying to keep a budget of around $100 or so as a max. I've also considered putting on heated grips on the bike but haven't...stupid procrastination...

I usually wear thermal underneath my gear. And wear knit liner under the gloves.

MEC has thin polartec glove liners for under $10 that vastly improve the insulation of any glove and stuff into any pocket. You can probably find similar at other outdoor/camping stores.

Any insulated heavy leather glove with gauntlets should do. My cold weather gloves were cheap no-names, like $60.00 and surprisingly have lasted over 5 years. With the liners, I'm good to below freezing.

They will go great with your heated grips .

I think I'm going to consider getting heated gear considering I'm going to be riding until it snows(or if theres salt on the ground).
That then opens up a new mini-project to add one of those terminals to my relay for more accessories... I hate working in the cold T.T

I put heated grips, that seems to help. Sorta like driving with the a/c full blast and heated seats :P

That said i'm too going to get slightly warmer gloves and a warmer jacket.

Thanks!!!! I've been looking for a warm gauntlet (using shorty ventilators, summer gloves is the only pair i have) but I think I might go this route so I can use it for snowboarding and stuff too.

I suck I decided not to ride in today because it was 5 degrees in markham and my ninja kept stalling on me this morning - i need the new 300 already (EFI is a god send in cold weather)

My ninja had no issues  Just for the first few blocks I need to blip the throttle a tlittle at stops and lights, after that golden.

BTW I can't find polartec glove liners on the MEC.CA site :(

Do they even still make Nitrogens? They're what I use, not expensive and respectably warm.

Why is online shopping so weak in Canada....Best thing about working in the States is ordering stuff from amazon.COM.
Sportchek has a burton liner but its $30.

Agreed! But buying gloves online is hit/miss unless you try them here first...fit is so different for each type (S/M/L are all different from each mfg)...

The liners are fairly easy to find...I got mine at the ski show last year but unfortunately my current bike gloves are so tight that they don't let another glove liner in. Although I do have a liner from my snowboarding gloves which may go on TOP of my moto gloves...hmmm...

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I got a pair of the Scorpion Gunners last year and they work well, but unfortunately I got one size too small so they constrict my hands a bit and I get a cramp putting them on.

Heated grips FTW, I got mine for under $10 and they work wonders when its not cold enough to lug around the big thicker gloves.

yep. good thing i wore two shirts today. it was +7 deg. on my way to work. gotta do something about hands too. i've used the blue surgicall looking gloves from a dollar store under my gloves. that seems to help a bit. but will try to get better gloves and the liner from MEC for this year

In a pinch or for a short ride you can throw a pair of latex gloves under your riding gloves. It will keep the heat in, but also the sweat so they are not recommended for a long ride. I keep a few pairs in my trunk in case of an emergency.

I also recommend liners under your normal gloves over buying new winter gloves - I've experimented around with bulkier cold weather gloves, and I find that they tend to be stiffer and can make handling the bike trickier because of the less tactile feel (while offering only so-so warmth).

The only cold weather gloves I've ever had any success with are these: http://www.botachtactical.com/hatwinspecne.html

They're obviously not made for motorcycling (and won't offer much crash protection for your hands), but do a great job of wind protection and heat retention without the sweating, as well as keeping the hands flexible.

One of these days I'll probably invest in heated grips or gloves - as much as you **** around with different gloves, you really can't compete with heated gear.

If you wear fitted gloves the mec liners will not fit under them. If you wear a relaxed fit (1 or 2 sizes up) they will work.

I remember at the Exhibition last year I saw these little gel packs that are stiff and when you break or bend it, it heats up ? Anyone know what I'm referring to? At that moment I thought about how it would make a good solution for thermal wear inserts when you're riding... and then the thought passed as I got distracted by the next exhibit... lol.
