Good friend of mine just moved to british columbia from toronto. She has insurance currently for her 2014 honda 500r. Any one know of a decent insurance company out in BC?

Cheers

can you ask your friend how the insce rates compare to onterrible ???
im thinking of moving there....the insce "spring surprise" was pretty much the last straw for me staying in toronto

well as for companies and rates. You must get insurance from government (as mentioned, ICBC) but you can get just the basics with them and use alternate for extras (comp / theft fire etc) much cheaper than using ICBC for everything.
For the optionals i am with a company called Beacon.

for rates with ICBC. does not matter what you ride. The bikes are all grouped into a rate class and all bikes in that class is the same money. 1st is 0cc to 110cc. 2nd is 111cc to 400cc. 3rd is 401cc to 750cc. 4th is 751cc and up.
As an example. A Ninja 650 and Honda 500 would be same money. For me it was around 900 per year. On my current 399cc bike it is 400 per year. Beacon costs me about 250 per year. Covers everything from fire /theft etc to even gear.

She finally got around to getting a quote. Her insurance will be $1,800.00 per year for a 2014 Honda CBR 500r. Last year she paid $689.00 for full insurance from TD which she signed with them when they had their "motorcycle deal only" packages.

That seems like a lot. I was paying 600 for a r1200gs. When I came to Ontario it doubled.

How old is she? How long has she been licensed? Does she have any convictions?
