Bringing Her Back to Life

It's a vac petcock. I have the vac hooked up. It will run for a bit on the vac, but the fuel will stop after a while.

Look what arrived the other day. Just need a fan for it now.

Ok, been braving the cold and decided on some bike work.

I thought I'd redneck myself a clear clutch cover. It's not installed yet. I now have to strip the case, repaint and change all the seals/bearings.

Some pics of what I did.

Thanks guys. I need to finish it with a metal ring

You should mill a slot for an o-ring seal

This will just be a retaining ring. The sealing surface will be between the lexan and the case.

I'm just going to buy some thin, rubber, sheet gasket material and trace one out.

If I had access to a lathe, I might consider it. Plus, I wanted to show guys that there are easy mods out there that can be done with some basic tools.

Sorry I have 3 CNC routers so for me milling is less work then what your doing with that hand held router. I guess if you want to do it all in house then no fancy equipment and machining

Would be cool though I'd like to engrave some plexi glass like that. I could engrave names, graphics, etc

Got the cover together. It turned out decent, but I have other issues.

I have some horrid clutch shudder when hard on the gas from a stop. I had the case off, so I dove into it. I thought I had a lot of slop in the clutch cush/damper. Decided to tear into it and rebuild it.

Drilled out the rivets to get to the old pucks. Decided to replace the pucks. The OEM setup was 4 pairs of pucks. One big, one small for each set. I'm going with all large ones.

To get this unit back together, I drilled out the holes in the 4 bosses to accept 8mm bolts. They will need to be cut back once installed (with locktite)

The worst part is that I can't drill/tap the hardened plate. I need a 6.8mm (tap drill size) carbide bit as well as a high quality 8mm tap.

Started it today! Seems to run good. Still having some electrical issues.

It smokes. I was worried about that considering I swapped the pump from one case to the other.

I cleared the neighbourhood of bugs. Lol

Started hearing ticking from the bottom end. Not sure if it is caused by interference from my new bolts that I have installed to replace the rivets.

I've torn it apart and trimmed them perfectly flush now. I have the basket back in and torqued. Should be able to get the clutch plates and fibers in tomorrow.

Awesome now we are going to have similar clutches, I am converting mine back to the wet clutch because my dry clutch ****** out oil, we will both have the see-through glass on the case lol!

Cool. We'll be samies - except your bike will be faster and newer. Lol
