I live in a not remote area at all and I qualify (at least according to their website, who knows if they would let me go through with it). I am just a hair's width away from built-up cable/DSL service (I can technically get DSL, but absolute best performance is 6mbps)I thought the $200 was only for very remote areas. I know my buddy was looking north of Algonquin and the price was still $800 or so for the hardware.
Thanks @Scuba Steve. That’s fairly expensive but if you don’t have other options…not much choice.
I was pretty sure most areas in Ontario qualify for cheap hardware now (fixed stuff, the RV stuff is still expensive IIRC). I think starlink is a game-changer for people without options. If you have competent options, starlink is probably not your best bet. It will be more expensive and continues elons tradition of crap customer service. To file tickets, you need to open the app, give it a thumbs down and then you can file a ticket. Why wouldn't filing a ticket be an easy to find option? Quite a few people have been down for weeks with open tickets and no correspondence. Current gen dishes have an issue with heaters and if you leave them on auto, they burn up the proprietary cable. Nothing says fun like replacing a cable on the peak of your roof in the winter.I live in a not remote area at all and I qualify (at least according to their website, who knows if they would let me go through with it). The rectangle or round dish I thought they had the heater fixed on the rectangle.I was pretty sure most areas in Ontario qualify for cheap hardware now (fixed stuff, the RV stuff is still expensive IIRC). Apparently lots failures on the rectangle cable. I would turn off auto heater and only fire it up when required. Surprisingly they let you see when heat is on and some people have found heat on at strange times (eg well above freezing and raining). The rectangle or round dish I thought they had the heater fixed on the rectangle.

I'm hoping they blow that deadline and call the bluff. See if the snivelling idiot has any stones or if he is just all bluster. Cancel the contract and lease out to all that want in.Rogers must give BCE, Telus access to wireless network on Toronto’s subway system by Oct. 3, minister says

PR spin. Don't worry, I have faith we will all lose. Politicians will pay and call it a win. Oligopoly supported. Pats on the back all around.WTF is actually happening here
One way to read this is that Bell and Telus are now forced to negotiate terms with Rogers within the next 3 months, thus putting Rogers in a highly favourable position
Another way to read it is that Rogers/BAI/TTC are now forced to allow Bell & Telus to install their own physical infrastructure
The statements from the Globe & Mail article make it seem like they all think they've "won"
I think it's just terms. From a different article:PR spin. Don't worry, I have faith we will all lose. Politicians will pay and call it a win. Oligopoly supported. Pats on the back all around.
EDIT:
As for three months, they all have to be operational in three weeks. The only possible way that happens is if Rogers allows others to connect to the existing hardware.
