Brampton M EXIT test

Question about the emergecy brake: Do we keep the bike parallel to the curb or back it in as if we are parking? You mentioned reverse so I was a bit confused. Someone also told me you get off the bike on the right side so a car won't hit you but that sounded...not right. Did you dismount normally?

From what I understand, pull over to the right, bike parallel with the curb, right signal on, look over left shoulder for traffic, get off the bike and go to the right side of it and wait for instructions.

The slimy examiner probably told you to do the lane changes when it was "safe to do so".

Hahaha, exactly what I was thinking.

They really make a point of saying "when it is safe to do so" many many times during the test.

Whoa there....easy now.
Lets break this down.
I went for this test.
Passed with flying colours (said humbly)
Thought I would share a couple of things with the nice friendly easygoing folks who ride just like myself, who may benefit from a couple of things I noticed.

Use the info if it helps, if not, feel free to move on.

Yes, easy enough to miss flashing lights RIGHT next to a right turn. Ask the many people who failed due to missing this as per the TESTER, in conversation with the guy who failed after me.

Peace!

Does anyone have a map of where they ask you to go? I'm taking my test this Wednesday.

And can I wear my tinted visor?

No to the map but basically here is the route...

yes to the visor. Its a PIA getting the helmet on just to let you know. You might find it easier by removing the cheek pad on whatever side you put the ear piece.

In the afternoons you do highway first in the mornings residential first.

In the morning:

  • You pull up out the back corner of the plaze make a right, keep riding till you get to Kennedy and make a right. Go north, pass Steeles, you'll see this little side street called Tullamore and make a left. There are no lights so don't miss it.
  • He will probably ask you to do an emergency stop...keep riding, be wary of the 40km zone. Almost the whole residential zone is 40.
  • You do a little loop and turn left on to a street I can't remember..most likely Steeles because you end up back on it some how..you keep on riding past Kennedy and the big stores towards the highway. He will likely make you lane change, and you take the 2nd on ramp which is 410 North. You do one lane change left one right and get off on Clark.
  • Turn left on to Clark and then right on to the 410 South.
  • Repeat the highway stuff and get off on Steeles
  • By now you should be familiar with the area; make you way back to the test center.

The afternoon is pretty much the opposite...

Thanks that was really helpful! I'm going to go around the area tomorrow. I'm a little bit nervous about the test. I have all the confidence in my riding abilities, but I hate being tested. It's like highschool over again urrgh.

i think that you forgot to mention that you must have gone on 410 two times in opposite direction because thats the only way you can end up on steeles again to make right turn towards and than a left turn on first gulf blvd. please let me know if i am correct.

if you google "M2 Exit Brampton", you'll find videos on youtube that shows you the route.

He said you go north on the 410, then south on the 410, that's twice.

I scoped the route this afternoon to get myself familiar with it. I was trying to stay within speed limit but it was really hard....

Can someone quickly remind me if I can make a right turn at a red light if there is a car in front of me who's giving me enough room to go through?

Thanks for the route information, I do so much better with pictures. :)

Sorry for double posting but I'm hoping that I'll get a faster response on this thread. I have my M2 exit test this afternoon in Brampton and I just want to clarify some things.

When I exit off the 401 onto Clark, does it matter if I stay on the left lane or middle lane? If I'm in the middle lane, what is the proper blocking position? Same with exiting off 401 onto steeles.

Off Steeles, I need to make a left on the First Gulf, but there are a two left turning lanes. There's construction on first gulf on the right lane, so I want to be on the most left turning lane. When I signal to go on the first left turning lane, do I keep my signal on and go to the most left turning lane, or do I need to turn it off, then signal again to show that I'm switching lane, although both lanes are left turning lanes?

Thanks

1) Yes, it does matter but they will only deduct points for improper lane use and blocking position if you don't switch to the correct one. Regardless of what lane you turn into you want to lane change to the right lane when its safe (you have to anyways to get back on the highway). Proper blocking position in the middle lane when you have 3 or more is the left tire track, or the position you'd be in if you were driving a car i.e the driver seat. If its two lanes and you're in the left then you want to be riding on the inside next to the dotted line i.e where the passenger would be...

2) You only have to activate your blinker once however if you go from one turning lane to the other make sure to do a proper shoulder check. Also after all left turn make sure to move over back to the right lane when its safe...

Hope that helped.
