Can't believe how long ago that was. Might be due for another.

I agree. Downtown is dangerous on a bicycle but is mostly low speed and minor damage/injuries for motor vehicles. Brampton combines bad drivers, no desire to follow laws or common courtesy and high speed so the crashes are big.Nah Toronto downtown is easy to get around, you can barely move, with all the singles lanes, construction and overall congestion. It just takes a lot longer to get anyplace.
Seen yesterday at the forks, half a dozen cars ******** all over the place running in a crew. One car thought it would be great to speed past a motorcycle and met another bike coming in the opposite direction. Well it went all down hill from there, guy in the car hit a tree as he drove off the road,I agree. Downtown is dangerous on a bicycle but is mostly low speed and minor damage/injuries. Best possible outcome. Hopefully the bike had a camera and stuck around to give evidence. Does insurance avoid paying if you get a dangerous driving conviction? Most have an exclusion for claims resulting from criminal acts.Seen yesterday at the forks, half a dozen cars ******** all over the place running in a crew. My wife and I went to see Buddy Guy at Massey hall a week ago. We briefly debated about driving as opposed to parking at York Mills and taking the subway. I prevailed and we took the subway, and it was a good thing because the construction in the area created absolute chaos.
The overall quality of human beings has easily been on a steep decline since pre-covid times and this is a global problem. Whether it is people who feel entitled to drive/walk/ride anyway they see, to those driving with convictions, no license, insurance etc. I've seen jaywalkers face down in their phone as they wander across a busy street, with the cross walk just steps away.. I've seen people pushing strollers or walking pets into high traffic area's and never once look to see if it is safe. these are just a few examples... I use Brampton as a verb to define a level of stupidity, entitlement or ignorance that is beyond even trying to comprehend.
My scare in downtown is the streetcar tracks. I get anxiety when they are around.Nah Toronto downtown is easy to get around, you can barely move, with all the singles lanes, construction and overall congestion. It just takes a lot longer to get anyplace.
Go boldly across them.My scare in downtown is the streetcar tracks. I get anxiety when they are around.
I retired 13 years ago and can count on one hand how many times I have driven back into downtown TO since then. The last time was for an Elton John show at the ACC in September 2018 and by the time we got to the venue and finally into the building we had missed the first few songs! We had left two hours to get there and get in, but that still wasn't enough. I swore that would be the last time I would go to any event in the downtown TO area and it was.We stopped driving downtown almost 10 years ago, not worth the hassle. Stopped driving to shows as the trip could be an hour, or could be 2 hours if there was an accident on the Gardiner 10 minutes after you left home. You never knew. Have several instances where we arrived after the show started and we were lucky to be admitted. PITA.
Workarounds we use is to park at Wilson and take the subway. Other is to take the Go train. We look for shows and events outside of Toronto to eliminate the commute hassle completely.
To answer your question, because Brampton. Welcome to Ontario's 100 sq. km. garbage dump.
Worst part is, that was some good farm land with real good soil, and they paved over it and made it some weird cookie-cutter-slumland.
