Brampton Driver = Massive Fail

I'm putting a pen in my tank bag.

Is this mainly 10/mclaughlan and Boivaird? I live by Queen/kennedy and if anything I started riding 10x more because of the good traffic....

I also live in Brampton near Bovaird and Bramalea Rd, I can't recount now how bad the accidents are around here, the hospital is eternally busy with ambulance runs all the time. I've been cut off, almost run over, etc so many times it's just normal. The weave and a flick of the high beam is a habit across every intersection, has saved me on a number of occasions.

I have lived at Queen and Dixie for the past 10 years. I have never been in an accident nor has my wife. I'm not saying there's not a bunch of bad drivers here, but it's nothing I haven't seen anywhere else in the GTA.

Just riding with the assumption the everyone's out to kill me has saved me a few times.

I lived in Brampton for less than a year, but was involved in 2 not-at-fault accidents.

The first happened turning left from the of the 410 to Sandalwood (this was almost 10 years ago, before they extended the highway). I was in the leftmost turning lane, there was a flatbed truck in the outer left-turning lane. Light turns green and as we both start turning, the trailer starts to inch towards my car into my lane. I didn't have much of an escape route, as I was pinned between the centre median and the truck, and sure enough the trailer rips into the front of my car and tears off about half of it. And STILL, there was a battle between insurance companies as to who was at fault. It wasn't until I researched Brampton by-laws and determined that trucks that size weren't allowed on that particular road and presented it to my insurance company did they finally determine the truck driver was at fault.

The second accident happened on Bovaird in the Chingacousy area. I was in the rightmost lane and a driver to the right of me was in a turning lane, when he suddenly decided he didn't want to turn into the plaza and sped up to try and overtake me. Of course, he bashed into the side of my car instead, and kept going. I followed the SOB for miles, honking and gesticulating like crazy, so I wrote down his plate and reported him to the nearest Peel community station.

I swear, even when the drivers were at fault no one wanted to own up to their stupidity.

So true about the red light situation. It's really bad sometimes. Call the city to complain about faulty lights. Had them look at the williams & James potter intersection because before Williams stayed red for minutes. I'm talking like 4 am when there are no other cars. They called me back a week or so later and said they fixed it. Still bad but not as bad as before.

Not sure I agree on the immigrants being the worst. Although there are a lot of bad ones for sure.

In some cities in Europe the lights change after 11pm. The street with more traffic gets a green light all night and the intersecting street gets flashing yellow lights indicating to yield. Excellent solution when there is little traffic at night.

A buddy of mine lives in Btown. I only go there to visit him and a few others in the area on occasion but it is very obviously noticeable that once I enter into the Brampton area drivers are much worse (or selfish) than avg drivers ANYWHERE else... no signals, crazy speeding, merging into traffic with not enough room causing someone else to slam on brakes.. I've also been stuck behind those people that do not let you pass them.. by speeding up and blocking any attempt to get past someone.. not sure what that's called..etc..

This buddy has also been actually hit by cars twice in the last 3 years. He is a walker, as he doesn't own a car, so he is more exposed, but jebus, 2 times in 3 years, fully hospitalized with life changing injuries. I doubt I would ever want to live in Brampton as I enjoy friggin walking..
