Bought used bike, riding home without transfer of ownership?

Thanks for the help guys, think i'll have it towed, i didn't realize it was that cheap to rent a Uhaul tow trailer ($15)

As for the seller riding it, he doesn't have insurance on it

+1 ^ I did it when I picked up my bike from Keswick to Mississauga on my buddies plates.

Don't do anything stupid and you should be fine

How about CAA.

Call them and say you need a tow to your home. Just make sure to have the bike on the side of the road and should be no problem.

CAA won't tow a vehicle without plates.

And if the driver is REALLY picky ... the plate has to match the number on the ownership.

If they show up and the numbers don't "add up" then you just wasted a call. Again, IF it's checked.

So NOW the question is - what thread will we see next from the OP? Will it be "how do I properly tow a bike" or the dreaded "I dropped my bike off the trailer on the highway"?!?!?!

Jeez, nearly everyone wants to play it safe these days. I always slap on my plate and ride it home or to the shop for a safety. Never been pulled over. There's this thing called a mirror, you can use it to watch for cops behind you.

Rule doesn't apply to Shiny coloured SS bikes :D

Mostly I just see elbows. The shoulder checks are just a tad obvious.

So i'm about to buy a used bike and pick it up on sunday, I just got my insurance for it so i'm covered...however because the MTO won't be open, I'm thinking about riding home with my brothers plates (I don't have any yet) I'll have the bill of sale/ownership etc but it won't be in my name...IF i get pulled over what will happen?

I know you're excited - you just bought a bike, you're rushing to get on it, you want it NOW... but seriously just wait. Do it properly. What's an extra day or three. Not a big deal.
