Border trouble

Today I went to the US to pick up a bunch of stuff i shipped to cibi. I always organize me receipts and i make an excel chart with all my totals. I had close to $1000 in purchases related to my motorcycle. I was expecting to get checked and pay taxes. In my grand total that i declared to the first border guard i forgot to include some hiking boots i got. When i showed my receipts inside they realized i didn't include my $180 boots. They got nasty about it. Apparently now i have some note on my profile. Is it on my passport or the car? Is this going to affect me when i fly in to Canada? How long is this crap on my profile?

i was there too... were you one of the riders with the bmw ? i always declare and never any surprises.

Nope. I was with a car. I always declare stuff too to avoid hassles. If I wouldn't have made a chart with totals and declared around a grand I would probably been better off.

your passport and your license plate are now flagged.

You will be inspected every time you enter the country from now on.

For ever?
FML this has to be one of the worst weeks of my life.

Highsided my bike on wednesday
Almost got seriously zapped on friday
Coming back from niagara some retard slammed on his brakes after he cut in front of me for following the traffic flow on qew. Worst of all he had a child on his passenger seat. It was VERY close. Called it in, but i doubt cops will do anything.

Maybe i should just go birdwatching tomorrow.

What do you mean "zapped" you werent tazed by the police or sumthin, were u?
Sorry to hear bout the troubles, maybe it was just your facebook profile they made a note on, lol. Try to cheer up, Just make sure all your docs are in order from now on as you know now theyll be on you like a dirty *** shirt!

plan on spending a bit more time crossing the border, it wont affect your ability to travel, just means you may get a special look and bag check coming in.

CRA wants their lb of flesh so they try to discourage any practices preventing them from getting it. Sometimes, innocent victims get thrown under the bus but that doesn't matter as long as they get paid.

Zapped was referring to an accident that I want to leave non descriptive.

If I plan on returning something I have to fill http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/b2g.pdf to get my HST back, right? Within it it says:

Field 3: Provide the CBSA inventory/import receipt number from
the CBSA Postal Import Form or the Casual Goods Accounting
Document or from a courier receipt. You must attach the
original import document.

Will I get back my Casual Goods Accounting Document? If I send it in now, and I want to get a refund for something else latter on what do I do?

seasoned cross border shoppers know the way to avoid future unwarranted aggravation is to lose their front plate (the one without the validation sticker) as the replacement is only $20 instant clean border history = priceless

It's not going to affect you all the time. For all you know they may not have put anything on you file. If you are really serious about finding out. You can invest around $130 and apply for your nexus card. If you get called in for an interview, then; it's 99% sure that you're in good standing. If you don't even make it that far, they don't want to waste any time with you as you are on some 'delinquent' file.

Not true. When I was young and naive, I decided to have rims/tires for my car shipped to a US address receiving agent in Buffalo. Had them installed there and tried to cross the border with the new tires on and my stock rims in the car. Agents were wise to this tactic and basically told me to either tell them the truth or they would seize my vehicle. $700 in penalties later, I was on my way, only to get a flat tire on the bridge near St Catherines.

Long story short. No problems crossing the border, 6 years later. I always make sure to declare everything, but they don't search my belongings. OP - You'll be fine.

How could they actually prove this? Unless you decided to roll across the border with 22' Rimzzzzz

The always walk out and check my rear plate since my front doesn't register.

If you get caught bringing in something illegal or not declared and it's only minor then it stays on your record (i.e. Passport) for the next three years. This includes Air and Road travel in the U.S.
Yep! bin there done that! and had the searches.
