Board Exams!!!

I want to be buried in a Loblaws box out in the woods.....I don't want any of my hard earned cash going into the pockets of the scuzzy death profiteers.

I never understood this concept of look at me when I am dead.
Pine box $250 or cremation $250 but cremation costs the same as a burial iirc.

I shake my head with people and their mini houses at the cemetery.

I'm not going to get into this debate as it's too long to debate about in person let alone on a forum, long story short a funeral is for the living, to help them move on from grief to beareavment and make the transition easier. There are a lot if psychological reasons to see a person after they have died. A funeral can be cheap or is can be expensive it all depends on choices that a person makes when arranging. You can still see the deceased before they are cremated to say goodbye, embalming is not always necessary. It all depends on if you go to a good funeral home that gives you that option or not.

How cheap can the job be done for?

Depends on the funeral home, before I got into the profession I got robbed big time by a funeral home for a direct cremation for my dad. Cost me 3000.00 I didn't know any better at the time. Most good funeral homes for a direct cremation should be around 1500.00 to 1800.00. That's with no services or anything. Might not even include an urn. But if you wanted to see the deceased before hand that should be included in that price.

1500-1800 is a steal.

$500 for a cremation should be the limit.
The stove is already on so why is it so expensive to incinerate someone?
How long do they have to burn before turning into ashes?
So we can just put them into some PVC tube and put them under a tree in our backyard?
cool!

There would need to be a surcharge for alcoholics. Some of them burn forever, seems like.

My parents (since passed) paid in advance for their cremations. They took care of the issue long before GST was invented.
Upon their cremation, I was forced to pay GST (for my Dad) and HST for my Mom, even though everything was pre-paid.
The total for the 2 of them before tax was $740, or $370 each.
When I picked up the remains for one of them, the lady that presented me with the "Green Box" said they had saved quite a lot of money. I asked: "how much would it cost today for the same services" (there was no funeral or any of that crap) and she told me it's now $2200 + tax for a basic cremation. (Canadian Cremation Service in Hamilton).
I realize it can be done for less.

Cost of gasoline is hitting every sector looks like.

I thought it was a gas furnace?
Might as well go old school, just use a pyre, made of wood. 2 mid size trees at a country farm should be sufficient

hmm Viking Funeral.

Or a "sky funeral".
Ps. prepared to be grossed out if you google that

A viking funeral would be sweet!! A sky funeral not so much, horrible way to do it but I guess if you know all the logic behind it, it does make sense. I'm going to have an amazing funeral, music will be awesome, I want my bike at the front of the room beside my casket and I want my husband or whoever's closest to me if he's dead leading my procession to the mausoleum in my bike and ill have a ton of other personalization for mine, still trying to think about what else, it keeps changing lol.

My funeral will not be amazing. People will be wandering around going "wtf??

Thanx for asking.
