I was at the bike show, and had a chance to sit on the BMW K1300S AKRAPOIVC SE bike and man was it beautiful, and comfy! Anyone own one of these bikes maybe can share a little insight on them?

I'm curious to hear some first hand info as well.

All BMWs look alike and their owners are snobs. Coming from an HD owner........I'm just kidding. Honest.

It's a sweet looking ride but, I prefer the R1200RT. But, that's just because I like boxers over in-line engine configeration.

Cheers.

One of my good riding friends has one, and we swap bikes on occasion. I currently own a K1200R, and he originally had an R1100S, but got jealous of the power, so he traded up to a K1300S. I love my K1200R, but the fueling is a bit rough at low RPM. The 1300S has no such problems - smooth throughout the entire rev range.

The quick-shifter is neat, but works best at high RPM/WOT, otherwise it's kind of clunky.

The front suspension is a Hossack style setup, so there are no fork tubes. It's very stable and feels totally planted, even when leaned over hard on bumpy roads. Some people say that it 'lacks feel', but I have the same setup on my K1200 and I love it. The bike also had 'ESA', and while it sounds gimmicky, I found it actually makes a huge difference. On smooth tarmac, dial it into 'sport' mode and you can feel the difference in firmness. If you come across a bumpier road, put it into 'comfort', and the suspension softens so that bumps don't jar your spine.

Power/acceleration wise, it feels about the same as my K1200R, probably because my 'R' has slightly shorter gearing than the 'S'. Downshifting is truly optional (something like 100+ ft-lbs at the crank), although I usually downshift anyways just for the rush :D.

Gadget wise, it does have 'stability control' and ABS, but I only had the stability control engage once when I gunned it on a highway onramp and hit a tar snake, and you can turn the system off for burnouts, etc. There's also an alarm (meh) and a tire pressure monitoring system, which is supposed to compensate for running conditions, but I found it kind of off. There's also an oil-level computer check, and a service reminder. It also has heated grips and the ESA which I mentioned earlier.

Fuel mileage is pretty good on the highway, but not so great in the city - 7-ish L/100km, but I've seen sub-5L/100km on long highway trips.

He's had no problems with it so far other than standard maintenance.

If I were able to get my hands on a K1300R, I'd probably get that over the 'S', but it's just an aesthetics thing, since they are pretty much the exact same bike if you ignore the styling.

All this being said, I was just amazed at how comfy and ergonomically correct it was. I was expecting it to feel uncomfortable and difficult to handle but it felt very natural and ergonomically correct (at least to me). Man, I like it so much I may just have to put it in consideration as a next possible purchase. In terms of the R1100S They came out with A "Boxer Cup" edition I've been looking for that bike for ages it was my most favourite bike, because it was as unique as Unique could get! I wouldn't mind picking up one of those either;)

Couldn't agree more. ergonomically it felt so natural it was almost unreal considering the type of bike it is. Almost prefer it over a fully upright position...
Have you sat on the 2012 zx14r? a little more leaned forward but I found it to be quite comfortable as well.
Hayabusa not so much, felt too sprawled out on it...

Could easily be my next bike after I get my undergrad and pay off tuition debt.

You have good taste!!!

what can I say great minds think alike  ya, it's a completely awesome machine! a definite contender.

I took on out on a demo ride last summer at Mosport. I currently ride a F800ST and was expecting to find it feel very heavy compared to my bike but not so. In fact it felt very composed and I was impressed.
It reminded me of when I first drove a fast European sedan...there may be others than can out accelerate or possibly out corner but for everyday street riding few will do everything any near as well.
Solid bike...my type of machine. Still a little too much coin for me to trade up...but maybe down the road?

I had a chance to take out a lava orange K1300s two years ago for a test ride and then couldn't stop thinking about it. Unfortunately the price tag was a little too steep which made me change focus to a used 1200. Still a great bike and with a power commander to smooth it out it offers a very similar ride. It offers the same riding comfort and the hard luggage system is fantastic.

The red version is the one that turns my crank

absolutely stunning.....

However, I'm not much of a cross country long distance type of rider which the K13S is suited perfectly for, some day I may upgrade to a used K13R to replace my F800. I dont mind nakeds, and I'd appreciate the upright seating.

the k1300R is the one I would get. Naked ftw.

I've never ridden one but did spend a day riding behind one up north. Lots of ground clearance for the type of bike it is (shaft cover is first thing to touch iirc) and it seemed to handle fairly well for a big bike. If i was looking for a shafty it'd be between that and a vfr800
