One thing I heard about the expensive BMW luggage which I like, that it detaches and you can carry it in like suitcases. That's huge.

Depends on how heavy the luggage is. Not that they probably compare, but my BMW bags on my GSA are not something even if it had handles that I would want to lug around. Best solution in my mind is bags in the panniers that come out. My bags fit the panniers, they have straps, when I get to where I am going, open it up, pull my bag out and all is good.

I have the sport panniers for the F800R and a BMW top bag that came with my bike. They are awesome. The panniers are pretty light and they can be held like l suitcases which is nice. The one key system is definitely a win.
