Bikes of Buenos Aires - Police and Regular ones

Going though pictures I snapped during my recent trip to Buenos Aires - here are some bikes photos I took, haven't traveled recently much so I was surprised how small and cheap bikes there are.

Police rides Dukes 200, the biggest police bike I saw is 800 BMW... No superbikes on the street, no huge Adv bikes, most of the bikes from China and Jap - single cylinder air-cooled....

Here are some Police's bikes:

Here whole bunch of Dukes picked up from shop after service I'd guess.

Nope, haven't seen a single Tesla on the street, or any electric scooter, as I said it's like going back in time - all bikes 100-250cc air-cooled singles :)

I just like how sunny it looks there, seeing the bikes looks good to!

November is April there - temps were around 13-20C - everything is start blooming and SO sunny! - made me craving to jump on the bike :)

I did run a lot in the parks - found these creatures (totally harmless) in the park

Coincidentally my wife and I were in Buenos Aires and Ushuaia in December.

I saw a similar assortment of bikes in both places but quite a few larger ADV style bikes in Ushuaia. Had a coffee at a Triumph dealer in Ushuaia too.

An interesting country, one where I'd like to spend more time and do some travelling on a motorcycle, but without my wife. `

My father travelled through Argentina back in the mid eighties. He told me of being stopped at a military checkpoint and the commander asking him to transport one of the soldiers to his destination which was a 3 or 4 hour (maybe more) drive. My father spoke fluent Spanish and obliged transporting the young man with the loaded AK47 and dangling hand grenades to the base in the town.

Was there for a couple weeks in December, ie summer there, would not recommend. Was oppressively hot with humidity. Had a week with daily highs in the mid 30’s

Did see a fair amount of big GS’s and KTM’s though.

Squeeze and I were in Greece in 2010 when the economic upheaval was going on. When we were in Athens there was some riotting going on and we watched cops riding onto the scene 2up on mopeds.

Yup, I was in SA, Peru a few years ago in April. Perfect weather and sunny every day. I basically was outside all day to soak up the sun. Great refresher.

Down in Ushuaia the temperature ranged from 4 to 11 Celsius, while Buenos Aries was 27-28 with high humidity. Almost 24 hours of daylight in Ushuaia really messed with our heads/sleep.

Very cool place.
