Bike won't start after 10 days of sitting idle

Hey Guys,

I just got my bike few weeks ago its a 2009 Honda CBR600RR, then I went out of country for 10 days and I just came back on long weekend of victoria day, the bike was just sitting in my basement garage, now when I try to start my bike, it won't start. I made a video to show the symptoms, it doesn't look like its a battery problem because I can hear the cracnking sound and lights turn on no problem.

Please see the video here and let me know how to fix this, I hope its just a minor problem :)

It does look like the kill switch in the video but if that's not it then my guess is the fuel pump. Can you hear it priming when you turn it on?

Well if you dont hear back from him then u know he forgot the kill switch... Happened to me when i was a noob too!

Kickstand down and bike not in neutral???

Most bikes have this as a safety feature.

I didn't know some bikes could still crank with the kill switch on. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of a kill switch?

your kill switch is still on.

I haven't had a Honda since the 80's. Will the starter still crank on a Honda with the kill switch activated? I would think not?

If this were the way that feature worked, he'd be launching his bike into the wall; the engine (and if in gear, the tranny) is turning while he's cranking the starter. The kickstand switch would / should prevent the starter from turning at all.

I am eagerly waiting for a reply if it is the killswitch lol

But it has happened to me before as well.

kill switch for sure, try a new vid with the kill switch on the right mode. Also, avoid using the kill switch to shut off the bike, this switch is only for emergency.

Personally I don't think that's a good idea... I always use the kill switch to turn off my bike, that way I know its working ...

on a dif note referring to the kill switch, I have probably 3/4 of a million km's riding a number of different street bikes and have never had a kill switch die on me...

Second that, I always use my kill switch to turn my bike off. Better for it to die when I'm turning my bike off in my driveway than when I need it. Course i've never had any problems with it. It drives my girlfriend crazy when I do that on her bike hahaha

This thread got me curious so I just went and checked my F4i. With the kill switch in the off position, the starter doesn't crank.

Honda could have changed it with the RR, but I'm thinking it's not the kill switch.

EDIT: Watching the video again, looks like the kill switch is on. Changing my vote.
