I remember based on security footage from one of the more recent thefts that it took them 2 minutes to load up and get out of the condo parking. How long do you think it would take a van to fill up with smoke to the point where the thieves would give up on their escape? If you're talking about a sportbike it's going to be a pretty small system.
ok tony starks,too much james bond movies for you,Started parking my bike at the condo again. I tied in wireless cameras recording to my server activated through the i1100 alarm.
Feed is transferred to my server via wifi while in range and gps when out of range using the i1100 servers. The cameras front, rear, instrument cluster. They are very small and hard to detect.
The cameras have their own batteries however are tied in to the bike battery and alarm battery back up.
If this actually works should the bike get taken I should sell this to scorpio or private law enforcement

Check out the video on this page, it smokes up pretty fast, likely before they guys who put the bike in the van are back in the van. Definately before they leave the underground. As an added bonus they will be disoriented and not be able to leave the building and the smoke may even set off the fire alarm contacting the authorities.
I'm sure there are drawbacks but it beats staking out your bike for hours

yes, if you say you're following them, and say you're going to confront them, operator will be talking you down while sending cops down there asap, throw in a bit about having a kid in the car with you, and you dont want to get her in danger... but that you're feeling pumped.

I have an old landmine that I use to keep my wheel off the ground for extended parking. Whether or not it still works I'll let the thief decide.
I remember a story about a mother and daughter who saw two armed robbers trying to break into her house and the cops were on the way and she was on the phone FOREVER and they were IN the house. She went into her room with her daughter and pulled out a shotgun and pistol, and asked the cops if it was okay if she shot them if they tried to enter the room, since they were armed and she had her daughter with her. Police said they couldn't give her an answer to that question but stay on the line. Anyways the guys come in and she blows one them away. I think she injured the other but he got away. She didn't have any charges laid on her! Sometimes things work out (kinda anyways).
If you were following someone, say something vague and not incriminating, like "I'm going to follow this bastard. Don't worry I have a firearms license, I'll be OK" and definitely say you have reason to believe they are armed.

clearly the solution is to keep parking bikes in underground garages. leave the keys in the ignition, no point of making it difficult for the thief. the might get upset and hurt someone. if they want it they'll take it regardless
He actually rode away on the bikes he stole;
the majority of the thefts around here, are pick-em-up-toss-in-a-caravan job.
His only re-occurring message, is make it seem like it's an effort to steal your ride; otherwise, a determined thief will get it every time.

They do this a couple of times, until, out of frustration, you disable the alarm. Bam. bike gone.

One little smoke grenade canister that I could "aquire" from work would full a van up in about 5 seconds. It's about the size of a can of pop and it would be very easy to rig it up to work and keep hidden.
