Bike stands on sale in Canadian Tire

The C.T. stands are fine. You just bend em in and out to fir the bike width ur workin on. :D
Had dozens of bikes on ours and will be pickin up a personal set this weekend....
$75 bucks....can you buy a replacement caster fro the Pitbulls for that cash...
NO stand is unfalable......
If I am doin somethin like an engine removal or "big" job.....the engine hoist and the straps come out anyways....;)

Those universal stands with the L brackets are an accident waitin to happen unless you mod the L cradle with somethin non slip FYI ;)
Don't ask how I know Mmmmmmkay..:(

Like I said.....
When the job exceeds the normal stuff.....;)
Pitbulls etc etc etc......don't matter much....:D
I do like the front stand however.....

Been there, done that: :D

Okay....fork removal isn't a big job. But it's a neat pic.... and I can't sleep!!!!

I have two sets of these stands and have been using them for a few years. Once you do a simple mod to the front you'll never have an issue with it. These stands are as sturdy and strong as any other stand I've seen. Bike is rock solid on there. The stands are steel and have the extra brace in the curve that alot of other stands don't have. I've posted this picture before but for those that missed it here it is again. I've used the stands for an SV650, Z1000, ZX6R and a DL1000 and have never had a problem.

This was a big job, (hope I never have to do it again --- er...make my friends do it again!): ;)

I got those two years ago and use them on my gsx-r. The rear is great, and like people mentioned the front one's design isn't all that great.

I put both on by myself with no problems.

I bought lawn mower wheels at a surplus store for $2 ea with the same size axle hole as the original wheels - the front is then high enough to get the wheel off without removing the fender. I put a shouldered bolt on the front top to fit better into the forks. The composite shims from Home Depot are also great to stick between the calipers when the wheel is off.

I have had those for a few years and have absolutly no problem with them. They're great.

I got these stands when I bought my bike, and I've only used them a couple times so far, but they seemed to work well and can definitely be used without the assistance of a second person.

Agreed. There are a lot of good stands out there for relatively little money, (I used some Hindle stands for years).

But those shiny Pit Bull's are so hard to resist.... they're really nice.

Agreed! picked up the forward-handle Pit Bull last week from Rider's choice.

Likewise I've got CT version. Me too had to jump up and down on the front stand to 'adjust' it narrower. It's designed to be adjusted tho.

And I don't have the nerve to put it on the rear stand unassisted.

Using the rear stand by yourself is easy. Just put a piece of 2x4 underneath the kickstand so the bike is more up right, then walk over to the other side near the back (because you'll want to catch the bike and bring it to full up right position), place the stand in the spool and push, wah-la!! Your bike is now on the rear stand, and you did it all by yourself :)

It's a little scary at first, maybe have someone to stand by for the first few time just in case, but you'll get use to it and gets easier every time.

Do yourselves a favor and get a good quality stand. How much will it cost to fix the fairing, pegs and handlebar when you drop the bike....a lot more than $75!

Get a Pit Bull stand with the forward handle so you don't have to monkey around balancing the bike and possibly drop it. The best and easiest stand I have ever used. If there is a better one please let me know.

My buddy forgot to put down his side-stand when taking his bike off the rear stand, (doh!!). Luckily, he was using the forward-handle Pit Bull and the bike just "fell into him," (---he easily caught it as it's a light bike). Couldn't have saved it if he was using a conventional stand....

Excellent tip, thanks. It's somewhat like getting the 220kg Bandit on the center stand. Anyone heavier than 60kg can do it - it's just a matter of using the right approach :).

DANG !
I think I'll get out the MIG tommorow and add a forward handle to my CT stands.....
:D

considering its the first time I have ever used sport bike stands I gotta say, learning experience!

and now I need a new SV turn signal :)

I tried just putting up the the front with the help of my wife, who isnt as strong as I thought.

remember, put the back one on first!!!! it will level out the front and be sooo much easier then having someone balance it, and hold the forks straight.

lesson learned.

I think I should change the title of this thread to "Bike stands 101 (illustrated)" :)
