Bike Porn....

Its great when the UPS man shows up bearing gifts. He just dropped this off today.

Its a custom arm for a RGV250 wheel that's going into a RD400 frame with a monoshock conversion. Had to wait about 5 months on it because of the eccentrics but I think it was worth it. I can get on with welding the top mount into the RD frame and offering up the TZ tank.

Very happy with this.

Dude with the rz350 in the bikes for sale section is porn for me. My first was a 85 rz, red and while.

I don't remember an RR model though, I think mine was a D and msrp was about 2500. 11G is way outta my ballpark.

$11k is a little rich for my blood but good luck with the sale to the OP.

That's actually an RN. Yamaha had a suffix to identify the country for compliance with the local laws. For an 85 in Canada was a RZ350RN, Australia was a RZ350R, the US was a RZ350NC/NC2, Europe was N or F depending on the country. They were 99.9% the same but there were little differences like the headlight points a different way in England than it did in France and the US model had 2 throttle cables for positive closure which the rest of the world didn't get.

This is one I just acquired. Its a 84 with an F2 front and rear ends that need to be changed out, and I was told that Bill Wilson did some work on the motor although I need to open it up to see.

The tank is completely rotten - as are they all. It will need the motor going through and at a minimum all the seals replaced but apart from that I think $2500 was fair. It a good base to build on

Bought it with the intention of building a 84 US red and white KR model like this. I already have the right wheels and forks. I just need to find a swingarm and foot rests

Swing arm and foot rests the same as the later models?
If so, get in touch.
I also have a NICE '86 tank.

What shock do you plan to use on the RD?

No, they changed the swing arm and footrests after 85 :( although they are interchangeable. Swingarms are easy to get as a lot of people have swapped theirs out.

Unfortunately the 86 tank is also different and it won't mount on the 83-85 frame without a lot of work and the older style seat doesn't really fit with it as well. They are quite easy to repair though. I just cut the bad metal out and weld in some new stuff. It's just a bit fiddly as there are so many compound curves.

I'm probably going to buy a Nitron shock. They are quite good and they are not Ohlins price either

You make it sound so easy. I could use some training.

Wow. I had no idea about most of that other than it was a fun bike when it was around.

This thread needs more rz pics!

These are a couple of my favourite builds at the moment. Its disheartening in a way as you think you can do a decent job until you see some of these.

I've always preferred the white and red in this paint job but the black is growing on me.

This is a LC but its very subtle as you have to do a double take to realize it has 3 cylinders

This is one of my favourite bikes at the moment. Its a RD350 frame with a TZ tank and Ducktail and a RZ350 motor.
