Hey all,
My bike was knock over on Adelaide just west of Portland today.
Just wondering if anyone passed by that area and witness it
I think it happend around 1:00 pm to 3:00pm

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

sorry to hear, knocked over as in somebody pushed it over or it looks like somone hit it with another vehicle?

Either way it sucks. Seems that alot of bikes are being found down lately

That wasn't a someone that was a rare "cockus giganticus ignoramus couldntgivea****itus". Unfortunately once quite rare they are becoming more common.

Check local area shops / restaurants as they may have security cameras pointed towards that direction. Worth a shot.

sorry to hear that, hope you catch that person! good luck.

I think someone back into it

Nothing worse than that.
This happened to me several times street parking in the Annex. Once a witness wrote down the licence plate and left a note (thanks!).
I could not believe how useless the Police were, they seemed like it was an annoyance, and they encouraged me to settle with the car driver. She knew exactly what she had done.

Finally, I installed drop bars on the bike, there is really no way to prevent this if you have to street park.

Someone should make a bike camera that takes a 360 degree high def panorama when motion is sensed.

That's better than stealing helmets! Steal a camera which probably costs more!

That aside, sorry to hear about your bike OP.

Properly designed, it would not work off the bike, and CMOS cameras are in the $15 range these days and the size of an M&M peanut. You could mount 4 on bike.
Are people stealing backup cams on cars?

I'm working on a bike security system that'll text you a super wide angle photo from the dash cluster and from under the tail looking back if anyone stands up your bike (or knocks it over of course) or moves it, etc. I'm trying to get a perimeter sensor to work with it too but might not be possible. You'll be able to track your bike by GPS (or GSM triangulation if GPS unavailable) from another smartphone or from a web interface, including last known position in case the device is disabled. There will be a big post on here when it's ready for testing!! Just waiting on a waterproof case for it and some tweaks to the software and it's good to go.

Well you're looking for a 360 (most likely rotating) camera that is HD WITH motion detection. How much does a Go Pro cost again with no motion detection with a (I think) 170 degree view?

What do you mean by backup cams?
Regardless, most cams on cars are inside a locked car vs on a bike where everyone can see it and steal. You don't see people leaving their cameras on their bike when they go to school/work..... It'll be gone on the first day on the job.

You don't need to rotate to get a 360 view. one shot will do it with the right optics. You could also just mount 4 cheap cameras. Take a look at your smartphone camera.

Backup cams -they are either built into the rear hood of a car or you can bolt them to you rear licence plate. Most new cars have them.

Anyway.. smart guys like hpvchewy are working on it.

...topics like these plays a major reason why I don't commute with my bike anymore. Drivers have no ****ing clue how much damage they cause by whacking our bikes down (and the $$$ plastics cost).

A bit of a tangent -- but all other things being equal -- would you buy a bike that was designed to withstand such low/no speed incidents with little damage ($-wise) over one that wasn't?

Dude, nothing's safe from drunks/idiots. A few years back, some Einstein hit my parked car so hard it caved the driver's door in and bent the right front wheel against the curb. Took off, obviously. Neighbors: Didn't see or hear anything. Cops: We don't really care. Insurance: Pay the deductible so we can lowball you AND raise your rates. Nice.

That was only ONE of the several hits the poor Honda has endured over the years. Pick it up and keep going Boshunter. Most of us know that sinking feeling. The dashcam Russians probably have the right idea.
