Hey guys might be selling my RC 390 before the end of the riding season so I can start banking cash over the winter I wanted to get an idea of a realistic price for it. It’s a 2022 RC 390 with 4100km on it. It does have some scuffs on the side from a dump but no actual damage to the frame. Only noticeable damage is on the kick stand but will likely replace before selling. Has a dominator straight pipe exhaust installed but can throw the original back in.Damage photos - this is the damage from the dump. It’s cleaned up a lot better now but these were taken the day of. Older Rc's going for 5kish...since your bike is much newer maybe 6-6.5k?
These are just asking prices though, what the buyers are willing to pay is another matter entirely.

Ya I was thinking of just posting it on marketplace for $7000 obo and see what offers I get I’m willing to be flexible but I do wanna get some cash off it. Did you take a look at the damage photos I know it’s minor but I’m kinda worried it’ll bring the price down

It might, the damage is just cosmetic, but potential owners might be picky

If you don't have to pay for winter storage and don't urgently need the money, just keep it and sell it in the spring when demand for beginner bikes is through the roof.
True I could always uninsure it during the winter

You will only get jokers and lowballers this time of year. Unless you "need to sell now, no place for storage", holding it until the spring will get you much better results.
The damage will cost you, I bet at least $1500 off from reasonable asking price for a clean version. Just the way it is.

Ya I know the damage will bring it down mostly tryna figure out what a reasonable pricing is and then go from there

Crappy time to sell it if your goal is to get as much out of it as possible, in my opinion. Potential buyers are looking for distress sale prices at this time of year. At least that's been my experience. If you can afford to hang onto it, you'll likely get a bit more in the spring.

It's worth a shot I suppose. Just be prepared for little interest or a bunch of low ball offers, and try not to be discouraged.

Ya the good news is I have a free place to store it for the winter it’s heated and indoors which is nice. I’m not urgently looking to sell but it’s something I wanted to look into. I don’t necessarily need to upgrade but thought maybe I’d kill 2 birds with 1 stone get some money dumped into my savings and look at a 600 in the summer

Although you will get more in spring, the difference wont be huge, maybe an extra grand or something

Sell it in the spring. Bike will appreciate far more over the winter than savings will. Do not cancel insurance. It is cheap during the winter and 600 insurance will suck enough without a gap in insurance history.

Since I'm old. A 600 is a bleeping terrible idea. The 390 will be fun for years. You will learn faster and save many thousands on insurance.

I get it honestly but I want something a little bigger not just engine size but physical size as well I’m on the taller side plus not super worried about my insurance costs but I’ll see if I can just get like fire and theft in it so I still have insurance

A) they won't let you switch to fire and theft. b) that wouldn't maintain insurance history. c) read up on premiums over the winter (vifferfun did some great writeups in the insurance forum). insurance for October to march is something like 15% of your yearly premium. Depending on how you pay for insurance, cancelling now could trigger an immediate lump sum owing as you may have used up more insurance than you have paid for.

Fair enough I’ll just let it ride for now I won’t be messing with my insurance over the winter. Thankfully haven’t had to use my insurance yet

You have used it. Every day they are assuming liability is a use. You have benefited from the risk reduction (and legal riding). Many insurance companies have gone away from 12 month billing as they got tired of having to explain premium paid vs premium used to people. By making it lump sum or paying over the summer months only, the rider should rarely be behind on their premiums.

A 600?? Didn't you just crash less than 2 months ago on a bike with like a third of the power? Seems like this is the heart talking and not the brain. Insurance is gonna rape you on a 600 as well.

I slid cuz I wasn’t paying enough attention to my lean angle and throttle control. I learnt my lesson on that one honestly with how it turned out I’d say it was more a low speed dump than an actual crash. Road my bike to Toronto the next day to ride with a few buddies with no issues
