Best waterproof jacket / pants for a sport bike

Afternoon! I have a sport bike and a roadcouch, and I realize the waterproof gear I've always bought in the past has been for the couch type riding.

Anyone ride in the wet on a sportbike in all weather gear or more specifically, waterproof gear? I'd love to hear about it.

Any of the Alpinestars Drystar gear is fairly decent.

Hmm, maybe I've had badluck, though nothing Drystar I have is or stays waterproof, and I found out multiple time this weekend. It also, IMO, has zero breathability and gets uncomfortable fast. I have both drystar pants and boots.

This is what I've switched to now, jacket and pants combo, tired of trying the all in one built in waterproffing in gear.

odd a good friend has a full set and he commutes rain or shine, never heard anything but praise.

Waterproof jackets are great if you get caught in heavy rain once in a while, but I find if you get into a few long torrential downpours for a few hours at a time, you will find that some small areas will start to leak through.

I found with a crotch rocket that luggage/storage is almost nonexistent.
I found a good 1 or 2 piece leather race suit works ok for awhile (wearing it anyway), just remember to waterproof it.

I had good luck with the Scott rain gear too.

Drystar stuff gets warm fast.
Only Goretex really breathes.

You can double up! Put on waterproof jacket/pants, then put on frog toggz over that. Many motorcycle pants will also have a small strap inside the leg cuff, you should hook that to your boot somehow to keep the pants from creeping up your leg and exposing your ankles.

are you looking for waterproof gear or a waterproof shell?

Our Scott 3 season Gortex jackets have been very good in the rain tho hot to wear. I have the iCon version of this which does not breath but similar design, very durable and very dry and does not billow.
I like the longer flap at the back.

I see there is an updated Icon version but still PDX which keeps you very dry and very warm.
I do like the hood and often will take this jacket travelling with partner not motorcycling. The jacket folds into the hood for a compact package.

If mine ever wears out the Scott looks good if it's as durable. Big factor is any jacket must be done up correctly at the neck and the zipper sealed to work. Otherwise you just end up wet inside.
Most of the time it serves as an additional weather layer ....I really was glad I had it going to Pickle Lake as it got down to 9 and heavy fog along Lake Superior north of the Sault. Was edging on hypothermia before the fog lifted.
I think this type is a good addition to a mesh jacket system but maybe bulky on a sport bike. HiViz is a big plus. Was quite happy to have that in the fog.

Yes the drystar is not so good for keeping cool. I’m currently looking for a good mesh jacket for hot summer days.

I just picked up the Olympia Dakar3 at Gpbikes. Designed for more upright riding, full mesh, with a quilted liner and a rain liner you can wear under or over the main jacket. Fit and finish is great and has nice pockets etc.
Now I want mesh pants.

Let me know how it holds up to the oven like temperature days.

I've worn it up to 38 with humidex. Very comfortable when moving, this jacket flows a ton of air! Sitting still it's like any jacket, you need airflow for it to work.
It flows a ton of air, at 20 degrees I need a light sweater. Below 20 I won't wear it.
I bought the light grey/hi viz color as I find dark colors too hot.
Not the best pic, but all I've got lol.

Good to know, thanks!

I use a Dainese Super Rider D-Dry jacket. It's a textile jacket, however comes with a removable waterproof liner which works fantastic. So although the jacket itself is not waterproof, the liner add's that flexibility. Had a chance to test its waterproofing last week and it works just fine. The outer jacket being textile and heavily vented lets water seep through, but nothing passed through the inner liner. The liner is also perfectly wind proof, was very helpful riding during some chilly nights in April. Also, you can wear the inner liner as a wind breaker if needed. Definitely recommend this jacket.

I'd prefer to have waterproof gear. 15 years ago, I had a Joe Rocket Jacket and a pair of Drystar pants - both were water proof and both doubled as cold weather gear. I have an old Frank Thomas waterproof jacket, but it's shite in the warm weather, so I'm looking for somethnig that is multi season, with a focus on good, waterproof gear for riding my CBR1100xx.
