Best shipping options for a bike across provinces

Just wondering what the best company is to ship with for getting a motorcycle across Canada. I'm looking to buy a bike in Alberta and want it shipped to Ontario. I'm going to drive out and check the bike out and do all the necessary paperwork, but as for getting it home I'd rather get it shipped then to trailer it all day.

I was looking at Uship as the prices seem decent, but I'm wondering what experience other people have had with them, or if any other suggestions are out there.

You will drive there to see the bike, but later pay someone to bring it home? It makes so much sense my tiny melon doesn't get it.

To go into more detail I dont have a trailer, and looking to rent one is around $600+ for that distance. Some of the shipping estimates are cheaper than that and it takes that frustration out of my day. Also I'm stopping for a few days in Saskatchewan on the way back and would rather not drag the trailer through Regina for a few days.

Fly out, ride home?
Thought about that as well, just not too keen on jumping on a new bike and hammering out 15 hours on it, plus having to be weather conscious.

Furthermore I'm not sure about switching ownership in Alberta - I'm not sure if they will grant me a travel plate back to Ontario. Just figured its easier to sign paperwork and pay the $350 or so to get it back without having to worry about the above hassle.

must be a hell of a bike/deal if youre willing to travel and ship it back, what bike is it?

What could go wrong?

You aren't buying from a foreign country. It's just a provincial border.

why not buy a used trailer and bring her home with you. if u dont like the trailer can always resell.

My last bike was from the USA, near Detroit. The seller was well known on the forum and was easy to deal with. I rented a trailer, drove down with the understanding if the bike was what he said it was it was a done deal. It was better than expected.

The ownership was transferred here to avoid paying the Michigan tax. I'm not sure if taxes are an issue, probably not but Ontario will collect.

Can you do your Saskatchewan business on the way there?

Can you rent a U-Haul one way in Alberta?

What insurance will you carry?

What's the cheapest trailer and if it's open and the bike is a juicy temptation.......Then there's the Regina thing.

What sized size bike and will it fit in a rental van?

Just a 2010 Hayabusa with no kms. It's the black edition which is something I had my eye on.

It's funny you say that lol. I just recently bought a 2008 Busa from Manitoba. It went down in a parking lot and just had damage to the cowling, which is just lots of money when getting OEM stuff from Suzuki. Guy just traded it into a dealer where it was fixed and bought by another guy. I just bought the bike from him and he had the damaged cowling still, and had put 30K on the bike in the past 5 years and is selling it for a good price. Brought it here and found out the the shop had labeled it "rebuilt" even though only the cowling was replaced. Upon getting it too Ontario and taking a closer look at the ownership I realized the title, and Service Ontario wont touch it. Fortunately he bought the bike back as he also didnt realize this law. So only one province difference but completely different registration laws.

toronto to alberta is around 3600km fuel alone is more than $350 one way.
now u need to add return trip, their time, etc....

UHAUL trailer is maybe $15/day. While I understand your hesitation to pull a trailer all the way there and back, it’s honestly the most efficient / cheap way to do it. If anything check the single way rental price. Will be way more for sure as they’ll claim they need to return it to that facility.

$350 seems way too cheap for shipping, but if they’re hauling something this way that day....quite possible as it’s just more load in this direction.

EDIT: fly there and rent a UHAUL pickup one way back to Ontario. No towing, and easy peasy.

so better to get the vin before buying from another province and have it run by service ontario before?

Yeah in reality the quote is more like $850-$1000 for Alberta to ON enclosed trailer, a bit less for open trailer

I have used uship several times. Always had excellent service. The last time they picked up my shipment I got a link to track it’s progress. They always handled my goods carefully, never damaged in transit.
