You'll find something interesting/entertaining/amusing at all the shows, the first few times, so they're worth attending if you can. Others have already described the main theme of each show.
I do find that after a couple years it's same old-same old. And I hate people crowds of any sort. Though I did get to meet Rafiki911 and SamC at a show last year and that was worth the price of admission all by itself.
But if you're new to the sport and haven't been yet, you'll enjoy it. Bring a knapsack to stuff all the literature you'll collect into, as well as whatever jacket you're wearing; it can get warm wandering around. Bring a camera and a pad and pen; you might want to jot down prices, contact info, etc.
