Best Motorcycle Show in Toronto

Since I'm new to the sport I'd like to get your thoughts on the 3 big motorcycle shows in Toronto. I've never been to any of them but have been told you can get some great deals on gear. So what are your experiences at the following:

North American International Motorcycle Supershow (International Centre usually in January)

National Motorcycle Show (Exhibition Place usually in March)

Toronto Motorcycle Show (Metro Toronto Convention Centre usually in December)

I'd like to know which is best for buying gear, taking seminars, and overall enjoyment.

*Sorry if this has already been discussed but I searched for it multiple times and didn't get anything relevant back.

None of them are any good..just a way to seperate you from your $20...

^^
haha

I went to the one in Jan at North American International Motorcycle Supershow

I have seen a few deals on tires, but the time and gas made it not worth it.

I did get some custom made earplugs for 35 bucks, and they work great.

I have heard better things about the one in december, but have never been..

If looking for all new gear, I would just go there, try on stuff, see what size helmet etc you need, then go buy the excact same stuff online for cheaper.

Someone's having a bad day?
Why not go to as many as you can afford? Why let strangers dictate what you do with your free time and money?
The Dec. show has all the new bikes, so if that's what you want to see, that show should be first on the list.
Go to them all and decide for yourself.

That would be awesome if time and money permitted but I'm also asking because a friend might come from out of town. I guess I should leave GTAM and find out everything for myself. Why be on a message board with strangers that tell me to stop asking for their opinions.

Personally I like the first and third. The Supershow you can typically find good deals if you look hard enough. All the major shops are there so it's like one stop shopping since you can compare pricing without driving around. This will easily pay for your admittance in the show. The third one is just cool to see the newest models. Gear is definitely not as popular at this show but deals can still be had.

One stop shopping is a great point. I live right downtown and to get out to the stores in the burbs is a PITA. :)

North American International Motorcycle Supershow (International Centre usually in January) <- Mostly aftermarket / retail store presence. People have been known to find good deals at this show.

National Motorcycle Show (Exhibition Place usually in March) <- A dud. Lotsa beef jerky.

Toronto Motorcycle Show (Metro Toronto Convention Centre usually in December) <- Manufacturers represented through dealer presence. Most of the new model bikes can be viewed here, but also some accessory vendors attend.

I basically agree with fastar1.

I attended all four of the Toronto motorcycle shows last year (you missed one in your list that I think is in April, but it was a waste of time, a lot of junk) and for the prior two years attended the three you listed.

North American International Motorcycle Supershow
(International Centre / January) - this is my favorite show, you can get some great deals on selective bikes and gear. In 2009 at the show I bought a new Suzuki Boulvard 800 and then last year at the show upgraded to a new Yamaha Roadstar 1700. There are also a lot of used bikes. This is the largest of the shows.

National Motorcycle Show (Exhibition Place usually in March) - This is where fastar1 and I differ, this is a smaller version of the January show but is still good to get some basic equipment, helmets, jackets, gloves

Toronto Motorcycle Show (Metro Toronto Convention Centre / December) - Great show to see the new bike line-ups and some deals can be made. Last year there was a much larger presence of gear for sale.

In conclusion if your main purpose is to see the new bike line-up for 2012 go to the December show, but if your main purpose is to find a deal on a bike and gear I would go to the January show.

Personally I will attend both the December and January shows again and skip the March show.

I hope this helps.

You may note that I gave my opinion.

Just curious, at the Toronto Motorcycle Show in December, can you actually sit on the new bikes or is it look don't touch?

you can sit & fart on them all:lol:

Most if not all of the bikes are set up so you can sit up them, they are basically encouraging you to do so.

You couldn't sit on the Ducati Diavel or the single MV Agusta that was at the show last winter. You also can't sit on bikes like the Ducati Desmosedici and other niche/expensive motorcycles.

Basically it depends on the manufacturer/dealer. Sometimes they'll only have one bike for the show and it has to make the rounds to other shows as well; hands off.

At the December show most of the BMWs were available for sitting on...except maybe a custom 1000RR.
Honda even had a cool display with the new 250CBR mounted up on a stage with a winding road backdrop and dampers attached to the bike so you could sit on it and lean with your feet on the pegs.
Like they said above..this show is for new bikes with the manufactures and dealers there and some gear but not many deals. Personally I like this show but can usually go thru it very quickly.

the Jan show is the one for used bikes and deals on gear and maybe a Sham Wow if u r so inclined. Not hard to spent a few hours going thru all the different halls. There is also a whole hall dedicated to custom bikes with many tattooed and siliconed accessories...if u happen to like that kind of thing.

The other 2 shows are only if the tassles on the end of your handle bars have worn out and you desperately need to replace them:rolleyes:

In my humble opinion; These shows become very repetitive...

The December show is my fav. There you can actually sit on most new models. Jan. show is huge - custom bike hall is my fav.

As far as deals...I don't really search. There are lots of vendors selling crap - especially cheap leather. The big name stores like (http://www.gpbikes.com/) have huge booths full to the roof with goods.

I find these shows a nice way to get my motorcycle fix in the off season - mainly for entertainment not specific to finding deals.

You'll get much better deals on gear online. Especially in Jan/Feb. Check out Revzilla and Jake Wilson. You'll likely be looking at half price on gear.
