Agreed, I always prefer solid colours. I still like blue the best of these 3, though.
I like the blue.
Would be better if they offered it in purple though.

Purple is not even a real color, it is a result of a mixture of a couple of other real colors. ?
Real colours? I like to think of them as primary. And purple is secondary. An evolution, if you will. ?

^^^^I don't know what kind of color purple is but I do like most shades of purple

I voted red but the blue would be my second choice.

I've owned a few black bikes and I do like black but it gets a little plain jane after a while....

You win. Purple will be my choice too. If not purple, go with blue because it is the next closest thing.

the 2015 r3 in blue color is actually a deep purple the color code from yamaha reads GDPB - Deep Purplish Blue Metallic.

Its obvisouly way more blue then purple but in the sunlight you can really see the purple comming out if shes all shined up, trust me i had 1... great starter bike

Blue(purple) is clearly the winner. OP you made the right choice. Another crisis remedied by the GTAM crowd, good job boys and girls!

What about the 50/50?
Or in this case, the 33.3/33.3/33.3?

With Yamaha, I always picture the blue, just like green with Kawi, and red with Honda & Ducati...

Real men ride Orange (I guess that makes me a wuss)

My cousin rides a 2016 R3 in the red/black. It's a beautiful bike and IMO the best in that color. Didn't really like riding it compared to my CBR300 though. Felt lacking power in the lower revs, no ABS, slightly more aggressive riding position too. Unfortunatly his didn't make it through the season, he locked up and highsided at Terra Nova. Getting rebuilt now with all new front and left side fairings, whole new tail, new clipon and oem lever/light cluster, tank cover, rearsets and JB-welded headlight buckets.

Still a great machine though, nice choice! PM me if you want to ride in the nicer weather :)

Interesting that you perceived that feeling. Looking at overlaid dyno charts the CBR outpowers the R3 only between 5500 and 6500RPM.

The CBR's combination of primary gearing and 1st gear ratio is quite a bit shorter than the R3s (9.59:1 vs 7.61:1). As well, the CBR's sprockets give a final drive quite a bit shorter than the R3s (14/36 vs 14/43) which might give the impression the bike is faster down low but the effect would prove illusory out on the road. The R3 is significantly faster than the 300R.

Peak torque @ 6700rpm vs 9100rpm.. HP is generally irrelevant in pants dyno terms

In looking at the chart, the only time the R3 is making less torque than the CBR is right around that point. Below 5500 and above 6700 the R3 is making more. Maybe that's what JP0160 felt, that 1200RPM band where the CBR out-torques the R3.
