Best fuel to use!!!

Years ago I saw a girl put diesel in her Katana by accident.
When she started the bike, flames were shooting out the back as the bike ran for a few seconds and then it died.
One of her friends went over to check it out (he didn't know she put diesel in it yet) and tried to start the bike, double-checked all the basics and then had a look to his left at the pump.
He slowly turned to her and asked "Did you put diesel in your bike??"
Girl, ashamed, yelled back "I didn't know! It was the only pump available!"

I wonder if that Katana ever got running again.

Honest mistake!!

Theoretically you should be able to drain the tank, fill it with 91, drain it again, then fill it, change the plugs and be okay. Gas thru a diesel can be a bit trickier. Especially the new VW tdi.....a couple litres in one of those is going to cost you over $7,000.00.

Do you speak from experience? :p

seafoam (carb cleaner/fuel stabilizer) is mostly kerosene which is fairly close to diesel, so i imagine once the bike was cleaned out, carbs drained etc it was all good...

I'm an auto adjuster......so yes, just not my experience lol.
But my other ride is a tdi, I can't understand how someone could get them mixed up (big yellow handle - little red handle) but it happens. We all have bad days I guess

Some people don't even know that the colored handles mean different types of gas. Sad but true.
But at the same time it's not all gas stations that use this system though, so there is no consistency.

Shell Gas 91 Octane... No ethanol for me!! :D

If your bike only requires regular then putting a higher grade in it is a waste of money... and probably results in making less horsepower.

Use only unleaded gasoline of at least 87 pump octane (R/2 + M/2) or 91 octane or higher rated by the
research method.
Gasoline containing MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), less than 10% ethanol, or less than 5% methanol
with appropriate cosolvents and corrosion inhibitor is permissible.

Ok so do I use 91 or 87?
87 as it says Canada uses the (r/2+m/2) rating.

Just want to say thank you to everyone for your comments and advice.. i have noticed that when i fill the tank with premiun v-power fuel from shell i had the best results i believe it was the 91. so i will stick to that. so far so good..
cheers!
Ride Safe Everyone.

a cbr F3 is designed for 87 octane. putting in anything higher is a waste, and will most likely reduce performance.
don't use 91. even if you "believe" it was the best, you are wasting your money.

try to find fuel with as little ethanol as possible. Shell 91 is the only one I believe that has no ethanol in it's premium.

This may not help YOU much, unless you can find what I found.
In Sarasota Florida, I found a Texaco station (East of I-75 Exit 210),
that sells 90-octane gas with no ethanol, so they say.

I tried a tank of this stuff in my CBR-125R, which I regularly run at
110-120 KPH on Interstate 75. It went smoothly on up to 130 KPH.
(Nipples and elbows tight to the tank.)

Now, this was a one-time attempt, which I have not repeated because
I have not had need to use a highway since that ride, so I cannot say
the improvement is due to the gas, the wind, the other traffic with me
(traffic was light), or any other cause.

But I will stick with this gas until I decide otherwise. The price difference
is not much (actually the difference per gallon is about what I paid for an
entire Imperial gallon when I started riding, as I said, not much).

A lot of things influence how your engine runs, and the choice of gasoline
is probably not among the top three influences.
