Best Battery Charger

Just a followup for anyone reading, the Noco Genius models are on sale at CT this week so I picked up a Genius 5. It’s the same size as my CTEK 3300 I usually use but easily twice as heavy and feels much better made. Only downside is it doesn’t come with a vehicle battery lead and they cost $20 each. I’ll look for a few of those on sale.

Picked up a dodgy looking chinese battery analyzer/charger/repair thing (konnwei kw510). Hoist runs off a riding lawnmower battery that is kept on a tender for convenience. Running the hoist up last time was a pain in the ass as battery was sad. Battery is a little over two years old and has been hooked up to hoist since new. Theoretically 230 cca, first test by new gadget said it was good for 50 cca. That would explain why the hoist was ******. Let it try to repair the battery for a few hours, up to 90 cca. A few hours more 140 cca. Repairing again now. Will see what the meter says but the real test will be if hoist is happier.

Edit:
Up to 160 cca this morning. Still repairing.

Another four hours of repairing and got up to 166 cca. Trying a few hours with a noco on repair to see how that does. Yes, I have checked fluid throughout this to make sure it is above the plates.

EDIT 2:
Noco did nothing useful.

The Konnwei has paid for itself many times over at this point. It recovered an expensive agm for my brother (that one battery alone is worth many times the price of the konnwei), it brought a cranking battery back up from 300 to 550 CCA (rated at 600 new) and brought back a few others. Not sure how long the repairs will stick but cranking speed and the old school heater tester all agree that they function much better after it repairs them. No idea what it is doing but it works well.
