Bell and Rogers inch closer to becoming the only 2 voices in media

Eek I hate them both :(

We'll see. they just got through the easy part.

You're right...they can't keep every property and I hope the CRTC force them to sell to local Mom & Pop shops. We need more independent stations out there free from the corporate cookie cutters.

The CRTC is basically a lobbying arm for Bell & Rogers.

I am more referring to the Competition Bureau than the CRTC.

I am sorry for my ignorance, but can you explain how Bell buying Astral media = a win for Bell + Rogers? You do understand they are competitors right? That they are publicly traded companies?

You live in Ontario and make a claim that they have monopoly on Wireless and Cable service across Canada? Telus easily has the majority of market share for Cable+Wireless on the west coast, Rogers in holding onto Ontario, and finally Bell owns the entire east coast.

Do you know Bell is worth twice as mush as Rogers? I think it was $40 billion last I checked. Seeing as you pointed out, these companies are doing great, so maybe looking into buying some Bell or Rogers stocks would be a better way to make use your time.

I also disagree with this as well as Rogers finally stopped throttling my damn internet thanks to the CRTC! Now I can upload my torrents at my full 2Mbs.

Reduction of competition results in easier price fixing, market allocation, etc. This is pretty basic stuff and its the concern of the competition bureau. Thats why there is such a thing as a "break fee".
