Just wondering if anyone on here has ever used this app for motorcycle travel? If so what are your thought.
The Tiger's navigation can also suffer from lag between your phone and itself. Are you asking about the app or the Beeline Moto device? I was interested in the device a few years back. What put me off at the time for the device were the reviews that the turn notifications came far too late for use at vehicle speeds, suggesting perhaps that it was still using logic from the bicycle version of the device. I haven't checked recently to see if that issue has been resolved.
I just installed the app to see what it's like. The app requires a user account, which is annoying. In any case, the app has a 30 day trial period where you can play with it without an account.
The app looks almost identical to Google Maps. You can see points of interest on the map, but they aren't clickable for some reason? You have to pick a specific spot on the road as your destination/waypoint. So it's a pure GPS-style interface, rather than a general Google Maps type of thing where you can click on stores to see their hours/etc.
What I don't like about Google Maps on a bike is that the pastel colours provide terrible contrast in direct sunlight, and the Beeline app is almost exactly the same in that regard on the main map view. The biggest difference that I can see between the Beeline app and Google Maps is the Beeline "Arrow" view, which definitely has good visual contrast.
I like the idea of the "arrow" view, but sitting here at my desk I can't tell if it's operating in "as the crow flies" mode or in "turn by turn" mode, and there doesn't appear to be any option to flip between the two modes. I assume it's in "turn by turn" mode, but I'd have to try it in the car to see.
The thing that I don't like about the "arrow" view is that the "distance to turn" indicator also rotates with the arrow, meaning that the text is sideways or upside down at some points. This is just weird, unnecessary and hard to read. What I really want is what @Baggsy showed on his OEM dash - a simple, highly visible "turn left in 300 meters" indicator.
I'm thinking Beeline is taking me through some scenic back roads which is what I'm looking for.
No love for Apple Maps eh? I’ve been enjoying it more than Google maps for the last few years. I think the turn by turn navigation is far superior. If you're an iPhone user try the Scenic app. It's hands down the best purpose designed nav app out there.
It costs a bit every year for the full version and to download map areas depending on where you're going (use your free credits you get initially wisely) but I'm happy supporting a motorcycle specific app like this.
Even that being said I still end up using either google maps or Waze more often than scenic.
The new bike has Nav built in (with SiriusXM traffic data etc etc as well), and I'm pretty sure I still will just use my phone.

You need to press the "back" button a few times from the app and the app will shut down. It keeps running forever in the background otherwise.Only thing i find with waze, and it might just be my lack of knowledge. It seems to always stay running, I’m never able to turn it off unless i turn off data to the app
