Bearings supplier

From my understanding its not about the price of what you want to buy, its about having to set up an account and be paid via check upon receipt of a bill received in the mail after the part has already been obtained. The every day end user would want to pay cash/debit and pick the part up that day, and it just doesn't work like that with such a large company....I could buy a $10 bearing or a $1000 bearing, they will ship it under my account that I have set up with them and bill me later....

Its more the product line and who rep's that line. Since SKF is so large - certain specialty lines are rep'd by certain organizations that have long relationships with them.

But now a days - everything is becoming very grey.

The way it is suppose to work (if the end use is going through proper channels) - it should be more expensive to purchase direct through SKF vs. authorized distributors....but I keep hearing that isn't working that way.

For non-special product like these 6000 series deep grove - they shouldnt even think about selling to end use.

I can keep ranting.....

johnny is right when he says, you need to know ID/OD/Width for a bearing.....yes those are the basics, but there is a slew of other things that need to be accounted for.

- Radial play
- Abec on rings
- lube spec
- cage type
- enclosure type

--> But that does not mean that a 6204 from a industrial supplier would not work just fine on your bike. What you are essentially doing when you go to a industrial supplier is purchasing a bearing made for a industrial application and sticking it in your wheel.

There are a whole slew of laws and govt. regulations around wheel bearings....

If Honda has spec'd bearing "A" for your bike, it does / doesn't mean that bearing "B" would fine.

Just keep things simple - go buy bearings with the dimension that you need from a industrial supplier - manufactured by a big name manufacturer and you will be fine.

I went to Canada Bearing to get some tiny oil seals for a (somewhat custom) shock linkage and they didn't have it in stock but their supplier down the street had it (can't remember what they're called off the top of my head). So I paid CB for the seals and then went to their supplier myself to pick it up. When I got there, I asked the guy at the counter if I can order from them directly and he said yes and handed me a big *** catalog. I imagine many suppliers work like that but you just gotta know where they are to begin with.

To OP; just get OEM bearings. Maybe a little more money but no drama.
