All this talk about stators , I’ve had my starter alternator guy back when i owned my shop, cross reference oem replacements, had to get a couple over the years and they seemed to work fine

The big headache with the Vstrom 650 recall is it used up all the stators in the US even tho most replacing did not NEED a replacement at the time ....they were being proactive.
Unfortunately mine picked that time to fail ( only failure out of three Vstroms ) so unobtanium.
I was impressed with Honda ...my CBF1000 was just under 7 years old and the stator was still covered by Honda including the tow.
Had a lot of help from the riders at the Forks....not the worst place to have a break down.
