These houses were reasonably new (layer of insulation over the building exterior). I was surprised at how many had their roof framing detach from the walls.


No surprise really. Most of today's house construction are a step up from cardboard construction.

I'm certain if this was an older neighbourhood the damage would have been less severe.

The old adage applies here,. "They don't make em like they used to"

Sort of. Modern houses should have steel tying the roof to the walls though (and walls to the foundation). Now, I've seen houses close without any attic insulation before so I have little faith in construction/inspection ability to ensure that they are built to code.

So Douggie today said that if insurance won't pay to make things right, the province will. Although that sounds like he is helping the little guy, isn't that just juicing insurance company profits as they can refuse to pay and then we foot the bill?
Perhaps. Depends on how you look at it. Does Dougie seem like the type to forget people who wronged him? I’d be nervous if I was the insurers.

Actually I know that neighbourhood, those houses were built around 1990-1993
