Ballisong Kits

Rethink what? Cabellas, bass-pro, le barons, etc sell them over the counter and have for years. Assisted opening is not spring loaded, which is illegal.

So i should be thinking about a perfectly legal knife as we're discussing the gray area of a known illegal type of knife?

Might want to rethink the legality of assisted opening knifes
As far as why,its a dexterity skill that requires a little skin on the table.

Get caught with one in your pocket and plenty of cops will charge you with possession of a prohibited weapon and likely call it a gravity knife. right or wrong you will end up with some legal bills and something to talk about with the nice homeland security folks next time that you try to cross the border.

A bitter cop will try real hard to make a legal knife seem illegal.. including loose blades that can be opened with a really hard flick, however unlikely and forceful that action has to be.

Best way to avoid such a situation? Stay away from cops entirely.

Sigh. Do you always live in fear? A cop can also falsely charge my with HTA172 and ruin my day. Do i not drive or ride anymore?

ive spoken with cops with my kershaw hanging on the ourside of my pant pocket. Not a second glance.

But whatever. Lets keep discussing an illegal knife with zero actual uses for its flipping mechabism other than to inpress 15 year olds while fearing hypothetical "what ifs" involving corrupt cops.

Get caught with any knife in your pocket and you could be charged with carry concealed weapon. Keep it out of your pocket or on your belt to avoid that charge be perfectly legal.

I always carry a Swiss Army knife in my pocket. It's part of my criminal nature I guess but I consider it a tool not a weapon. Same goes for hammers, baseball bats etc.

Mhm. If a cop asks you why you have a knife and you say self defence, they will most likely charge you.

If you say you use it to open mail, cut boxes, edc, they cant charge you... well they can but it wont last. If it were the case that any knife in your pocket was a criminal charge, wed have a lot of carpenters in jail.

Intent is everything. A knife in a pocket isnt an automatic charge if you know your stuff. Know your knives, i doubt a criminal would wven know something as simple as the type of steel his blade uses. Going the extra step of knowing, respecting and referring your knife as a tool to police will avoid any unwanted charges theyre waiting to press.

I've carried one for almost 15yrs. Just don't forget to remove it when you board the plane or go to court

And I always carry my small Douk Douk in my pocket and I hope I never piss a cop off enough to charge me for it, because they "could" if they wanted to.
