Back Protector

So do the track day hosts that require hard back protectors accept all the soft ones in that test that beat the hard ones?

I'm surprised. That's the first I heard of one. But why would you want to bother with the soft foam pad anyways?

Apparently it's a Knox product but I leave it in and also use an extra bp. It doesn't bother me to have both on/in there and it's extra protection. Most suits I've seen have somthing in there.

I want to upgrade to the forcefield eventually, very nice product.

Never heard of a trackday host requiring a "HARD" back protector.

I guess I should just dig for myself.

Pro6 is ambiguous, but mentions Forcefield: Hard shell back protectors are mandatory. Foam or soft shell protectors, similar to those included in some suits, are not acceptable. Forcefield T-Pro back protectors and armour or equivalent are also acceptable.

Riders Choice is terse: ...and a hard back protector.

DOCC mentions plates: BACK PROTECTOR
• Mandatory and must be designed specifically for motorcycling use
• Back protection must have Impact resistant plates
• Closures must be functional

Precision strongly recommends back protectors: Back protector & ear plugs are strongly recommended.

I know that at Pro6 days Marty just hits you on the back on your way out in the first and sometimes second sessions to see if you have something that feels hard protecting your back, so probably any of those good soft ones would pass that test. From what I remember Riders Choice does the same, since I recall that Marty and his team were there.

I don't think I want a "hard" helmet. I'd want my skull to be cushioned on impact (as it has already), not cracked open like an egg.
this season I rock the Forcefield L2K at the track, love that thing.

except that any "hard" back protector (except for one I can think of) isn't as hard or as protective as a helmet.

i hope y'all know that the part of the helmet that actually protects your head is not 'hard" at all. you can pick out the EPS foam with your fingernails if you try.
