Auto mechanics - need your advice.

I always tell people to investigate drywall taping. Not the most glamorous job, but it pays well, only needs ~$250 in tools, it is not hard to pick up cash jobs on weekends and it is easily portable if you move. There is an apprenticeship, but you will get crapped on a lot less than if you moonlight in plumbing or electrical without the proper certification.

Wouldnt want to be doingvthat when Im 50 +

I'm a millwright. (25+ yrs) If I had a do-over, I'd get into HVAC.
As long as people live in Canada, they're going to need heating and air conditioning.

For easy transition, Elevator mech/installer. Pays really well, and Is mainly nuts and bolts, with some low voltage wiring. Lots of condos in the gta to maintain when the condo market slows.
Aside from that, as trades go, I say electrician. Think about how much electrical there is in any one house, vs other trades. Best of luck with which ever path you choose.
i must say though, auto mech is a good trade, society depends on cars, there will always be work.

Can someone explain to me what's up with HVAC?
Is it a trade or a college diploma? Do you need sheet metal ticket?

Fire alarm is an interesting license that I am looking to get besides my electrical license.
