Australia experiments with lane filtering

aghh another good reason to move to australia!

you have to remember -these guys have a year long riding season, so their drivers are, hopefully, better experienced with motorcyclists.

Here's why you don't want to move to Australia.. there's a reason why it's waaaaaayyyy down there and home to some of the deadliest animals on the planet.

Don't forget about the plants that are venomous and will kill you.

I lived there for two years and SURVIVED! But then again, I'm Serbian.. ;)

Must be all the moonshine. Animals too afraid to bite you.

I'd be embarrassed if that was my bible with all the stupid faces the author makes in the book.

lol I found that entertaining. We spend most of our time on motorcycles looking like the Stig anyway (serious, stern, badass, etc.). Nothing wrong with acting like a goof ball with the helmet off.

Stunting here apparently. Lots of points, huge fine, and around $1,000 impoundment fee you'll never get back even if you fight!

Besides, as stated in one of my previous threads, even if it were legal here there would need to be some awareness for our fellow (jackass) cagers. I know at least 2 people who have admitted to wanting or tried knocking riders off their bikes for lane splitting.
Anyone on here actually been charged with stunting for this? I see it every single day once the bikes are out in places where cops could easily sit and wait for it. I know when I'm sitting at the end of the Allen waiting in line about 5 bikes will pass me, lane splitting, on a good day. Happened once already this year. I'd think if bikers were getting stunting charges all over the place for it, it would die down.

G4Getmoney got dinged couple years back. They threw the book at him on the side of the road, kid had to sell the bike to pay the legal fees. There was a piece on GlobalTV about it as well. The thread was lost when they purged them a few months back.

Too much roadside power, too quick. Instead of an improper lane change ticket, they through everything and their grandmother at you. In the end, the judge reduced the ticket/fine to something laughable (couple hundred bucks), but kid still had suspension and tow/storage fees. Meanwhile the cop goes "whoops".

As for how this whole stunting law can be used out of whack, look up Sgt. Mahoney Bruer (sp?). Over 50-100 false stunting charges laid in 2 years, or something to that effect.

"A bill proposed to the Nevada state legislature could make lane splitting legal. Here’s how much chance it stands and how you can help make it happen.

The bill, AB236 defines lane splitting as, “…drive[ing] a motorcycle or moped between moving or stationary
3 vehicles occupying adjacent traffic lanes…”"

I was seriously embarrassed reading that book on the subway cause of the pics and I'm a pretty "goofy" guy myself.

If that's what you think you look like....

I don't think any of us would go helmet-less...unless we're a robot...like him.

The issue is that besides from stunting, which highly depends on the mood of the cop as nfq stated, you've also got random cagers that want to kill you (literally) on purpose. General census here is that it would be near impossible to win in court either because you were in a place you weren't supposed to be (according to previous court rulings).

Don't get me wrong, I was lane splitting since I started riding 2 years ago but this season I just don't feel like it's worth the risk anymore, I'd like to keep my $$$ and prevent any unnecessary injuries.

Sgt. Mahoney Bruer. he got me for stunting 193km 2am on the 403, I was speed though this was a couple years back. He got me for speeding I knew it was only a traffic violation, so pulled over and waited like 30 seconds as soon as i saw the cherries in my rear view.
To my surprise there are 4 cruisers surrounding me and a officer with gun drawn telling me to come out with my hands up, I come out and get thrown to the ground. After that In his cruiser he charged me for flight(running away) and dangerous driving and also the 50 over.

I did go 93 over, I think I paid 1000$ fine 2 months suspension and no record though not even the suspension.
as for the charges which he made up they got dropped, just before my trial is when he got charged. I had a paralegal handle the stunting ticket, my lawyer said you could have got off on that too.

but what was supposed to be traffic court turned into a criminal case because of that ****head cop.
