Aug 5th TMP (Friday) anyone have extra trailer space?

What would be a waste of money would be to pre-register with no way to get your bike to the track or not be able to get your bike tech'd because you are missing something.

Either way I think showing up at the track and never even having been to one in the first place, and then thinking you are anywhere near prepared to ride it after an hour of setup time still seems a little crazy to me.

Pre-tech your own ride before you leave. All track websites have their general tech-sheet. What is crazy is that someone wouldn't check their bike before even loading it up on the trailer.

But I agree with you on the transport: only register after you have a reliable and confirmed mode of transporting your bike to the track.

Thanks for the suggestion, however this isnt my first track day, and also I was never that nervous.....I was nervous the first 2 laps and that was it.....on third lap instructor already commented on the change in confidence...I just have to make sure not to get too cocky that I lowside haha.

KawasakiGal, if I could make a suggestion... The first track day I ever went to, I didn't pre register and never even took my bike off the trailer as it was full. I went down with a buddy...

It turned out to be a great thing, because I had plenty of time to walk around and meet people, and just get a feel for what it is like at the track. You will see what everyone else is doing, and what the norm is for track regulars, as far as gear, bike prep, trailer/pickup configuration and social encounters.

I was very nervous in the truck, riding to the track that first day, and it was almost a relief to not get to ride. I'm sure someone who is going that is on the forum wouldn't mind if you showed up in their pits and helped them get their bike on the stand when they come off the track, and you will probably enjoy it.... If you ride down yourself, you will be able to leave half way through the day and go for a nice ride on your way home.

Just sayin. :)

Exactly why I havent registered, just put it out there on last minute to see first if anyone had trailer space...and my bike is already prepped for track...I make sure to read requirements prior to any track day.

If you crash I would select lowside over any alternatives!! :) Like a high confidence throttle opening into slide into closing into highside crash!

Anyhow since it's not your first then you should have all this crap bought already, like Canyon Dancers at least, ratchet straps, zip ties.

Rent a trailer from U-Haul, it's 15 bucks a day.

I would select no crashing but agree ....did highsiding once in the dirt and it sucked! LOL

It only takes one track day to know what you're doing ;)

Have fun (if not this one, then the next). You should consider attending the SOAR track weekends. Friday is the on-track day and the day they hold the racing/license school (in the slow group).

Fun place to meet new people and see the recreational racing environment.

Ive actually marshaled for the SOAR race days.....I would love to look into this...but unsure since I will be upgrading whether I should do this now or later, I spoke to one of the guys that said I could enter next year as a level 4 or something with my new bike....who knows? I just want to get out there...

I do have tie downs, and zip ties, but never used that canyon thing your talking about...I rented a pick up last time from uhaul with another racer.....this fall I will be installing my hitch so that I can make it out lots next season.....will need to do some prep over winter, such as figure out bike, get some fibreglass plastics etc....(I dont want to ride with my street fairings anymore, tooo scary hahah)

Canyon Dancers (the new ones) are basically 2 plastic cups that go over your hand grips, with a soft strip of felt like stuff in the middle, that goes over your gas tank / other parts of bike that might show up between the handle bars. You attach your ratchet straps to them, and it will help to avoid damaging your grips. Pretty good for putting in a truck, but we use them every time we use a trailer also.

Thank you for explaining that...I went back through the thread and saw where to buy a chock, but Im interested for sure in buying the canyon dancer where might I purchase?

Thank you!!

Riders Choice has them for sure. I think they are around $30.

the above mentioned + blue streak racing & royal distributing, make sure you get the cup kind and not the open ended kind (the open ended ones are 12$ and i am not satisfied with them)

The open ones are good if your handle bars are long or the bar ends are weak.
