Are you a "Brand Junkie"?

My jacket, gloves, boots and pants are all made by Dainese.
I have a pair of puma flat2 v2 that I wear to work an icon textile jacket, a pair of five gauntlets and a scorpion lid that I haven't worn since my m1x course.

As for the helmet, I went with a Shoei x12... That $150 I spent on the scorpion was a waste.

So, am I a brand whore? Absolutely.
That's only because I felt the difference between the lower end gear vs the high end, and I prefer quality. That's all.

Last summer in Austria.

Had on me:
Denim Jeans (from Zellers), T-shirt (from WalMart), Merrel Apollo shoes (Bought online in UK), OGIO no-drag backpack, and Shoei helmet (rented)

Shoei helmet was the worst: after several days it was looking like if I would dragging my head in each curve:lmao: All other stuff works good:D

Well, I strongly believe, that the first and most important safety gear is inside the head. If it doesn't function correctly no gear will be safe...

Nope. I've had laptops from 3 or 4 different brands, cars by several manufacturers (although primarily VW-related), have gear from probably 4 or 5 different manufacturers, would consider any brand of bike on the market as long as it met my desires.

I do tend to stick with quality brand name stuff but not always.

There are brands that I'm not fond of or don't understand:
Harley Davidson, Ducati
Both seem to be expensive, high maintenance and of questionable quality.
I guess I have enough of that with the wife.

lol I have a soft spot for European junk. I'd ride a Ducati if I could afford one (and the replacement parts based on my record).

Don't buy a Saab though. They're crap. (There goes any potential of selling that POS on this board when I finally get rid of it, lol).

I have no brand loyalty (well, not when it comes to bikes anyway). I will recommend products and brands that have worked well for me, and will purchase items that have been favorably reviewed over trying something unknown.

No, not really.

I have a "high-end junkie" problem though. Most of my stuff, tech wise, is best in class for my environment (speakers, monitor, TV, CPU, GPU, mouse, keyboard, etc.). It's slowly starting to transfer to my riding habit. Only thing holding me back is $$$.

1st thing i allways i allways look for is safety standards (DOT, SNELL , etc )
2nd is confort/fit
3rd price
4th style/colour
5th weight
i never look for brand name

I bought a cheap helmet...and now after lots of reading I want an Arai...stupid forum!!!

Welcome to the dark side, please check your soul at the door.

I tend to research before I buy, so nope, not a brand junkie.

Until I have stock in a company why would I be loyal at the expense of other great products?

As long as the price is right for decent quality gear

For my jacket i picked up something that was comfortable and looked good- Scorpion Stinger - been 4 years and the jacket has been through alot and not as much as a scuff to show for it.

For helmets i'm totally partial to Shoei. They feel the nicest on my head- i've owned 3 RF-1000's so far and they're great.

gloves can be anything as long as they're comfy.

Once I saw Matthew McConaughey in a Shoei helmet for "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" I knew I had to have one.

I didn't think I was but after thinking about it I guess I am. I researched and tried stuff on but it all ended up being the same brand. I've always had Shoei helmets (4 now but one I crashed in and one is way too old), I used to wear JR jacket, pants, gloves and boots and now I'm wearing A* jacket, gloves and pants.

I'm not particularly loyal or impressed by brand name. I've tried different products and keep what has worked for me while discarding what hasn't, and sometimes those products are high-end and sometimes they're not. I do have a Shoei helmet, a Joe Rocket jacket, icon gloves. The most expensive motorcycle gear I have are my Daytona boots, but I bought those for primarily for function.

As long as it does its job.

seems to be a lot of positive reviews on the alpinestars boots. i almost bought a pair, but didnt in the end.

the thing with boots, when i look for htem, i try to bend them in every possible direction, and if htey bend in a way i dont want my ankle bending... then they're not a good boot. but thats just my take.

Daytona seems to make a real nice one, but that is expensive as hell.

dainese torque's are also decent, but still not a dayotna.

Also, the instructor at RTI during in-class said that the protection doesn't go up as the price increases. He said there would be barely any difference if any. But then he had a $800 Arai Corsair V himself LOL

safety might not go up but style and comfort definitely does...
