Aprilia owners

I still say a $25 throttle lock is enough to give your hand a rest now and then and to completely ignore a brand because they still refuse to put CC on their bikes is a bit extreme. I wouldn't personally do it but I can understand if you feel that strongly about it.

On old budget bikes I don’t, once the price tag goes up, I get picky

It is done.
I was strongly considering a hypermotard as well, spoke to tony at peninsuila, was halfway there in the car, thinking to myself, "well I can probably suck it up, get a throttle lock, and live without cruise control, " then I remembered they dont even put fuel gauges on the bikes, so I re-enacted this meme in real life

Congrats on the Aprilia. But are you sure the Hypermotard doesn't have a fuel gauge? My 2015 did, so I'd be surprised if they went backward. In any case, I'd probably also pick the Tuono just for the sound!

Edit: Hmmm, went back and looked, and I could have sworn I had a fuel gauge on that thing.

So which Aprilia? 660 or V4 - guessing the latter.

Looking forward to your long-term review on it ... I'm still partial to the Tuono 660 and will stop at VOS at some point and check 'em out.

I'm in a Toronto Aprilia Owners FB group and they all seem to have nothing good to say about Vos, especially on the service side. They seem to like Studio Cycle, which is a new dealer for Aprilia, but has been around for other brands. No personal experience though.

Bit of an update..
I've narrowed it down to 3 bikes(I think)
Talking to dealers etc...
But having a real hard time picking a winner...hence I turn to the wisdom of gtam (I might be going in for some test drives this week )

-Street Triple RS
-Tuono 660(factory?)
-890 Duke R

The primary reason this list looks the way it does is because I want a bike that is:
1)Lightweight and handles well
2) Has plenty of usable power and character
3) Sounds and looks good
4) Doesnt have so much power that I end up just riding around using 30% of the bike and its potential on the street.
(as was the case with the superduke) I want to feel like Im wringing its neck and actually giving the bike a 'work out'.
(Sorry ducatistis, I like cruise control)

As mentioned I will also occasionally track it.

My current thinking is heavily influenced by past purchasing decisions and bike ownership.

A concern I have with the street triple is I've heard from some that they tend to be more rev-hungry, and lack a bit of low down punch that I like.

im also not so sure about the KTMs...hella fun bikes, but they tend to be harsh, angry, agricultural and not the best looking or best sounding imo...

Thoughts and opinions welcome (especially if you've ridden a street triple)

I could just throw logic out the window, and go yolo tuono V4
Look at the Dorsoduro.

The guy formerly known as Mladin.

Put on some miles today, the first initial thoughts are:

1. How much slicker the transmission and the quickshifter is compared to the KTM

2. How plush the suspension is, over minor or moderate bumps and road imperfections its very
comfy, only when the road quality goes to mogadishu/bangladesh do you start to feel some discomfort.

The turning lock is a bit tight, but its a very minor gripe

No Photos? Did I miss it?

Getting more seat time on the Aprilia and getting familiar with it, it’s a serious and focused bike… in contrast to some bikes that you ride that are all about fun, and when you ride them they FEEL fast(even if you are not going very fast) this one is not like that.

It is so competent at going fast, that even if you are, it doesn’t feel it.

The Tuono feels very planted and serious and always feels likes it’s on a mission.

This is a bike that needs the open road, it needs space to roam, twisty roads and tracks etc. the urban environment is definitely not its friend.

It handles very well and sounds really good, gonna put on more miles, get the break in service done, and see what more this bike has to offer.

Also finally got some pics
