Happy to Monday to me....FML...wife tells me this morning that the washer isn't working properly. Turns out it's not draining the water and the rinse cycle isn't working.

Anyone know where to turn (or recommend) a place/guy for appliance repair? My typical guy flaked out and isn't available and I need this done sooner rather than later. Hoping not to have to buy a new washer and dryer, but would prefer to repair as I'm a firm believer of keeping things going without buying unnecessarily.

Electrolux washer if it makes a difference.
 
I found when my washer tanked it was cheaper to buy a new machine, the board is the most common thing that goes from what i was told.

Probably need to search google if nobody here can help

My searches point me to a clogged drain (hopefully), and although I'm handy enough to take it apart....the problem is actually finding the issue more than anything.
 
Just pull it apart and see where it leads you. There must be videos online showing you step by step for the particular model. My dryer crapped itself a month ago, so pulled it apart and found the idler pulley buggered, cost me $30 to fix 15 mins on google and 30 mins pulling it apart and putting it back together.
 
Babies in the house ?
Twice I've had baby socks jam the water pump. Clear blockage, works till the next baby sock magically gets in there (older style top loader, not to sure about the newer crappy, more expensive **** out there now).
 
Electrolux? Euro washer -- like having a Euro bike. Throw your wallet on the floor.

Yup....2 of them. Wife just told me a plastic piece is missing of the lil ones suspenders following a wash....hmmm
 
We used Trans Global service for our microwave. They do all appliances. 1-888-930-6396. Fast efficient and fixed it right. A small delay having to wait for the parts to come in.

The old style would allow you to "tilt it over a bit", and you could pop the pump off right from the bottom (gotta empty all that water fist of course, well as much as possible)
 
We had a similar problem with ours. Turned out to be something that got past the filter and got stuck on the pump. It made a grinding sound and wouldn't drain. I was able to get it out without dismantling the pump by putting a wet/dry vac as tightly over the drain opening as I could and sucking the water out, which pulled the blockage with it. It took a few goes, but it worked...
 
Front loaders have a filter that is easy to clean on the drain. Samsung has a access cover everyone else you have to take the lower front panel off. It actually sounds like your filter is clogged. Also pull out the skirt just behind the door and look for all the wonderful stuff that gets behind it.

This is the way to go, so far for me dryer,microwave and dishwasher fixed the past few years doing you tube searches.
 
How old is it?

also, my understanding lately is, when buying new, you can wait weeks or months before seeing delivery

covid has shuttered many factories putting deliveries behind and backlogged.
 
Make and model, front vs top load? It is usually worth a little online research regarding the symptoms.

I was sure or GE recent top load had a failed pump (kept cycling pump on and off, no water being pumped). Turns out it gets stuck in a failure mode if the intake water of off while it is running. I tried power cycling, filling it with water, draining the water by hand....all no joy. Checked online, let it do the cycling for 30 minutes and it will reset itself. Always worth a look.
 
Electrolux EWFLS70JSS1 @backmarkerducati ... just reading through the manual now to see what could be the cause. I need to take apart the whole front end as there is no panel on the bottom only unfortunately.

Did a test run late last night and seemed to be rinsing/spinning fine at the end of the cycle. Will look into taking it apart soon to clean it out and check the drain piping below.

What a dumb place for the filter. The lg that came with the house has a small access panel at the front with a drain hose and filter access. FWIW, the filters is normally reasonably clean when I check it.

Samsung? I had a Samsung dryer a few years ago that we bought new, and within two years it started squealing like crazy. Turns out the idler pulley is just a plastic wheel directly on a metal arm, no bearings, no sleeve, nothing. Over time, the grease wears/dries out, and it ends up being bare plastic on metal. All to save $0.50 on some sort of bearing. Total junk.

That same house had a Samsung side-by-side fridge that had a poorly routed defrost drain hose that would plug and cause ice to build up around the fan that blew cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Required defrosting at least twice a year. Had a mechanic look at it, and he walked in the door, took one look, and said to toss the fridge. Known issue, and impossible to fix because the drain hose is buried in insulation.

Needless to say, I avoid Samsung appliances now. Not that anyone makes anything reliable anymore. And they change models and design annually so it's impossible to track reliability. No consumer item has degraded more in quality over the last 40 years than large appliances. Not everything was better in the 'good old days', but Inglis and Viking appliances sure were...
