It's like airbnb or turo for motorcycles. Owners list their bikes for rent on a per day basis. Very basic insurance is also included.

Here's a link with listings for Toronto:

Insurance policy info:

TOS:

More info for renters:

How does it work?
We are very similar to Airbnb and Turo. Prospective renters can message owners to find a bike for their trip, and then they send a booking request. A background check is processed automatically. Upon passing, the owner gets the booking request and the renter gets the owner's contact information. The owner has 48 hours to approve the request, otherwise it is automatically cancelled. Renters may cancel the booking with no penalty prior to approval. After an owner approves a booking, renters receive their contact info. It is always free to cancel a booking if it doesn't work for either party. We process refunds immediately although your bank may take up to 10 days to update your account. Please refer to the Help For Ownersand Help For Renters for more detail, as well as the Terms of Service.

Looks similar to Twisted Road, another "turo for motorcycles" type thing.

I looked at a few of these for a possible trip I could have taken down to the US over Christmas....wanted to get some miles in while I was potentially in the warm weather. Never ended up going, but that's another story.

The insurance situation (especially for the USA) made me way too twitchy for my own comfort level - one unfortunate situation down there and you're being sued to oblivion, and I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the "insurance" these companies are offering has more holes than swiss cheese if you ever needed it.

Found the old thread about riders-share here:
AirBnB for motorcycle rental

Yeah, the insurance is what is making me queasy. A friend was thinking about renting a bike through them to do the M2X test.
But then I also found the following text on their website. Unfortunately, their ' Help For Renters' and 'Terms of Service.' don't provide any more info on this.

Can I rent using Riders Share to pass the motorcycle license test?

No, and no exceptions for now. We have very strict requirements about who can rent from our marketplace to keep it safe (25 or older, valid motorcycle endorsed license, clean driving record or almost clean). Please read the Help For Renters section as well as our Terms of Service.

Pretty sure none of these companies rent to anyone with any sort of learner/graduated level licence - so in Ontario, full M only.

Hmm, could be. It isn't explicitly mentioned.

On the plus side, GTA exotics seem to be ok renting out motorcycles to riders with M2, M or any other foreign country motorcycle license. So that's another option.

Toronto Motorcycle & Bike Rental Company - GTA Exotics

* All riders MUST be over age 23 and have valid M2, M or any foreign country motorcycle license.

Interesting option if you're thinking about buying a certain model and want some seat time but the choice is pretty limited on selection.

Choice is limited in Canada, maybe because people don't know about it. I only found out myself through a friend, who accidentally discovered it himself.
