Anyone have a moto guzzi v7 racer?

I think the MGv7 is a brilliant bike for a particular application. It is certainly not for those looking for ultimate performance - there are plenty of SS bikes in that category. It is a classically styled bike for those of us who are not adrenaline junkies with a need to go 200+ kph, and with an appreciation for vintage style without the need for vintage upkeep. I wouldn't kick it out of my garage! It's one of a very few modern motorcycles that I'm interested in as long as my hip stays okay. Once the hip goes, you'll likely see me on a Burgman. Getting older really affects your behaviour!

I ditched the OEM bikini screen for a Stucchi Luigi half fairing (se my avatar). It performs amazingly well, moving the air stream over my shoulders yet not introducing any turbulance in my helmet.

Robmack: Gorgeous bike. I am not a big fan of the numbers on the screen of the stock bike.

Moto Guzzi's have always been different from the others. Characteristics include outrageous tank design and of course the lump of an engine.

The V7 is a good compromise for in town riding and of course your insurance rates i would think.

I own the previous generation, a V11 sport with almost twice the displacement. Guzzi' are extremely well built and very dependable.

To be fair, the V7 racer is a little underpowered in my books and perhaps just a touch too much glitter.

Not too bad looking:

Not too bad looking, indeed! I've seen Rob's bike and think it's so much nicer than the V7 Racer with the chrome tank and the silly number panels. He's done a ton of work on it, you should have seen what it was like when he first got it. Nice job, Rob. :thumbright:

The oil sump is a paltry 2L so you'll be busy checking oil levels often ... with a dip stick.

Ever seen one of these? Said to increase the sump capacity by 1 - 1.25 litres. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guzzi-CNC-B...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c3400eddd

Being air cooled, how are they in traffic?

They'll get hot, obviously, if you're not moving for a long time and it's a very hot day. But they use 10W60 full-synthetic oil, and thus I've noticed no problems with mine. By the time the bike's hot enough to bake the oil, you'd already have passed out from heatstroke.

r.

Uh, no. The older ones have under stressed engines, but the electrics are lucas quality.

They sound great. The V7 has potential, but I cant justify that cost for something that needs to be detarted. They are chasing the cafe racer craze, when they should have stuck to the style they invented in the 70s.

I much prefer the Stone or the CLassic, witht he add-on Stucci fairing and some sport touring luggage.

reminds me of the 70's

Personally love the V7 racer and the Chrome tank. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.
Not a big fan of the #7.

Question - Can the solo seat be replaced with a passenger seat?
