any who went ...how was sept 20 TMP track day

A little crashy in the morning, but it was great. Red group was sparsely populated. green was super crowded, tons of bikes!!!And yellow was pretty full too. The rain came out long enough to put me down, but I was on a supermoto, so zero damage really, but dried up quickly.

i wasted my time removing my center stand and coolant. didn't feel like riding down there in the cold & rain threat.

It was a pretty good day. There was only about a 20-min period where the rain was enough to affect track conditions, even for those on slicks. It was also unusually windy (even by TMP standards), so most of us didn't use our canapies.

Personally I found the cold track pretty slick at first and kept reducing my air pressure to try to get some heat in the tires. By the last few sessions things came together though and I could run at something close to my normal pace.

There were a few crashes but no one too seriously injured. For some odd reason corner 1 claimed quite a few today.

Here's a pic from my setup wednesday night, decked out with four flood lights for my night time bike prep :)

Now, a HUGE thanks goes out to John Sharrard at Accelerated Technologies. That guy sure seems to know his suspension stuff! Thank you so much for the crazy deal on the Elka 4 way shock, the install and tuning of my suspension, and the best part of all, a lesson on how suspensions work and what to adjust when they don't! Absolutely NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE since my last visit to TMP!!! Unbelievable!

New shock waiting to go in:

OMG where'd it go!?

Ahhhh, so so so much nicer!

All my gopro videos from today are uploading now, will link it up when it's ready, along with some blooper links (me getting black flagged for wheelies, again... smoking out the entry lane, driftin like a pro, etc :D).

Was tons of fun riding with everyone today, especially once I made it to the yellow group!! :D

Sabas- you one crazy mofo! Awesome to watch you haul around on that bike!

YellowDuc - beautiful bike, always nice to meet a fellow duc lover. Got some pics of you coming out of 12/13? Onto the straight.

I went off in turn one, went in WAY to hot couldn't cut the line and ran into the grass for about 100ft or so *shrug* lesson learned:)

But I made the whole day without dumping her so I got to go home with a big smile and full knowledge that I now have another addiction.
Think I got to get a track bike for next year:)

GOPRO vid is up!!!

The first two sessions are in Green, the second two in yellow :D

Remember, in green, you're only allowed to pass on the two main straights (12 to 1, 1 to 2), no passing in the braking zones on those straights either :( Yellow group you were allowed to pass in all four straights including under braking :D

Here's the track map I made for people unfamiliar:

Cold and windy, wind seemed to get stronger as the day went along..either that or I was getting sick of it. Sessions got better as the day went along. I didn't think it was a crashy day at all. One guy kept breaking down so there was a yellow for a bit on the straightaway. Couple guys laid down in the grass, and poor Pete decided to match the scrapes on the right side of this bike with the left. Funny how turn 1 seemed to get people? turn 2 got someone on the first siting lap, but that's cause everyone was crowding on the parade lap. After that it seemed pretty good. It was my first time at tmp and I had a blast, I had lots of time to try different lines. Green did suck because of the passing rules but (thanks Steve, I'm still bitter and my dog hates you). Like Yellowduc said, there was a little bit of rain but really nothing. I think it was less than 10 min and nothing was on the track after that.
I took a bunch of pics of different riders. I'll post up a link when I get around to posting them up.

yes, nice clean passing - thanks! And also thanks for the nice video! You were stuck behind me for a lap starting at about 46:00, and then again at 1:10.

1:27? On your second track day? Amazing. Took me 10 days to do a 1:29....

Sebas, were you the one pitted next to me??? Was nice meeting you and thanks for all your help on Thursday.

YellowDuck, I love your bike. I would be too scared to ride that beautiful bike on the track. Got a nice shot of you before going on the track. I can post if you want.

Oh yes please! I am very vain and love admiring myself....

Seriously, thanks for the compliment on the bike. I do sometimes worry about wadding it up, but since track riding is the only riding I do anymore, I figure I might as well do it on a bike that I really like.

Great meeting everyone yesterday! Finally got to ride with Jamie, he's one fast and loud double piped mofo, had fun in yellow and did some personal best times. I started in green but at some point we all bunched up in turns 4 through 12 behind a lady doing 30kph or so (literally), was riding with hand on hip or no hands at all.. Yellow was much better, once I passed a few in the sessions I'd get all track ahead for myself to go nuts :) Had only one mischief---decided to cut short on turn 4 and bypass turn 5 through the grass: taking turn 3, I was so delighted with my line and speed, while thinking about it with a smile on my face---oops, i'm already in turn 4, missed my turn-in point so I stand the bike up and go through the grass, was fun! I wonder if we can take such shortcuts to win seconds, hahaha! Maybe go from 5 through the grass to 8 then through the grass to 10, hahah...just joking of course. I stopped and made sure it's safe to get back on the track, didn't just run through.

lmao that was me, sorry boys. First time on that bike, I picked up speed once I got comfortable on her and learned the lines.

Rafiki911, you were the half-faired gixxer right?

That was me the only lonely supermoto out there, had a blast, It was nice meeting you also, hope your trunk will close soon!

Gonna need some boot sliders soon, don't want to burn off boots every year!

Ooops, sorry. But also a big thank you, because that prompted me to finally switch to Yellow! :)

Oh lol, I was admiring you on the supermoto all day! You really kick ***!!!

wow Jamie you improved a lot. I see you are hitting 1:27s already, good job!
Thanks! When the wind let down and the sun came out I pushed a little harder (mostly on the brakes, not just coasting into turn 2 like I usually do cause I'm too lazy to shift when I see the shift light down the side straight ;)), and was able to squeak in a 1:24 (using my bikes built in lap timer, lol)!!! :D Next season on a hot sunny day I'd really like to push hard, but being SOOOO damn cold, and no sun out so the track was cold too, and me with no tire warmers, I only wanted to push so hard, as to keep my pretty OEM bodywork well, you know, pretty ;) I did feel the front slide a little once or twice (visible in the video, I'll tag the times when I have a chance to watch the whole thing).

Jamie, your passing skills are awesome...
hehe. Thanks! They put some pretty tight restrictions on the passing, even in yellow group, so you gotta pass when you can! It sucks if you're following someone super slow on a litre bike the entire lap, and then they try and drag race you down the straight away, so it helps to pick a better line/faster exit onto the straights so you can still get passed them easy :D

Oh yeah, I liked your bike. Your pipes sound nice!! You can hear them at 1:10:40 in the video, even over my exhaust! Impressive ;) Your bike has nice torque too, gets off the corners good!

Was nice to meet you too :) Sucks we couldn't run together, things kept getting messed up (including watching for you, where'd he go? Oh, he's out in the grass, that's where! LOL!)

We'll definitely have to run some more track days next season. Can't wait to try Calabogie :)
