Any recommended Sportsbike mechanic in the GTA??

Did a quick search on the forum, didn't really find any recommended GOOD bike mechanic. Most were complaining about most of the major shops and dealers... overcharging and poor work.

I am looking to get some shim work done, engine is a bit noisy and other maintenance work while the engine is out.

Any good mechanics, either independent or shops for engine work?

Thanks in advance!

I'll just say this: I took three of my bikes to Z1 Cycletech a couple weeks ago for valvetrain work and some mapping. So I made my vote already and would advocate them for this kind of job. YMMV

I can't say for sure about ones in Toronto, but if you are in Barrie, the guy at Duffield Powersports seems pretty on the level. Included chain adjustment and a tire fill with my safety. I know it doesn't cost much for that, but Canadian Tire would have charged me more for the safety and charged me for the chain adjustment...

+1 for Z1. I've had my R6 and ZX6 worked on there.

Z1 Cycletech is closest to your stated location. Pro 6 Cycle is also good.

For the best engine work you can go to Competition Cycle (Dave the cripple) in Whitby or Daniel at Heritage Auto (Keele and Ingram).

I know Dave. He's a member here. However I do think Z1 outclassed the rest in Toronto, they are on the "must work right first try" level - personal opinion.

Pro6cycle has impressed me in other ways but I have no personal experience with their shop, just track, track support and sales.

I see some other recommendations which are not what the OP asked for... he didn't say cheapest or nicest, he wanted the best...

Ditto on all points. OP, check out Z1 and you won't be dissappointed (trusted them with my 06 GSXR1000).

Z1 is the place to go.

I saw Shaman's bikes there last week. Two very nice machines with great pedigree! He travels from a couple hours away to bring his bikes to Z1, that's a pretty strong statement.

Been going to see Rob since the day he opened up his shop. To date i have never been disappointed with his quality of work. Im one of those people that expect my bike to look perfect when it comes out. Not with giant scratches, dirt, etc like from other shops. I also expect the work to be done right, the first time. I have been let down by a lot of shops in and around the gta, but rob has never been one of them.

+1 for Z1....if you want quality workmanship and more knowledge than you can shake a stick!!! Btw Pannon sports is long gone!!

Another +1 for z1, he did 2 motors for me this year, and is working on two more for next. If you can't get the performance your looking for from one of his motors, it's not the motor that's lacking!

Aside from Ted from Rosey Toes, are there recommendations for any other reliable mechanics which will come to the bike to certify it? I've tried looking through the forums.

It's a CBR125 located in Richmond Hill.

Thanks!

Its against MTO regulations to issue a safety ANYWHERE except where the book was issued. Ted is the only mechanic I know that will play roulette with his license by doing it.

Not sure if I'm understanding... you mean pretty much everybody is expected to haul the bike to the original dealership/mechanic to certify it? And I'm guessing you meant "bike" where you said "book".

No

A service center is certified as an inspection center for the MTO. Then that service center needs to register a licensed mechanic to be able to sign a safety. Safeties must be done at that specific location.
